I wouldn’t disagree that it’s a good vehicle and fairly priced (msrp) against its competitors which include bmw.
That said, this is a leasing discussion, and bmw’s support/program makes the x5 and x7 better lease values against the aviator.
Like the other poster said, if he’s in love with the aviator, he’ll have to pay to play. If he’s flexible within the segment, other SUVs offer a better value when leased.
All that aside, I’ll just say what most of us are thinking- German luxury is generally nicer/better than American.
German luxury is overrated, with that being said the x5/x7 offer v8’s and are more of a driver’s vehicle than the aviator/navigator with those Powertrains, and win in a value contest too.
The x7 3rd row is larger than the aviator which is always better.
Tech is a wash/imo, maybe an advantage to the x7 for offering dash cam integrated into the car.
Powertrain
Edge to bmw for the high powered v8s, also handles better.
Interior
Even… opinion based
Exterior
Even… opinion based
This is my consensus after having actually sat in on and participated in test drives.
One thing I’ll say about German luxury, the fit and finish is generally superior to competitors.
I’ve been in the new navigator- it’s damn nice, and arguably a better value in terms of msrp compared to an x7, but you can tell it’s an American vehicle.
Would have liked to see a little less plastic and more leather/wood/metal trim in certain areas.
But for the most part outside of the new escalade nobody can match the size difference.
You are doing something right when a 6’2 200 lb adult can fit into a 3rd row comfortably.
After being around german brands for so long they have even “cheapened out” their brand, one could argue leasing/financing allows them to increase production and increase flaws on the fit and finish.
The A class and x1,x2, etc etc are all german but no way would I consider them an above and beyond superior a vehicle to what’s out there in the market, just because it’s german, american, Italian, etc etc does not mean it’s better.
I will say if the germans produced a navigator/escalade competitor expect it to start in the low 100s and top out high 100s with different engine choices.
The Germans have slightly diluted their brand with some of these low end budget offerings (i think this trend started with the Mercedes, cla).
However, on their mid and upper tier vehicles, there really is a notable difference. And it’s really not a knock against Lincoln; I currently have an Audi and a Lexus, and previously leased a Volvo. The fit and finish of my Audi (Q7) is easily superior to the other 2 brands.
Lexus has really gone down the drain, it went from competitor to bmw/audi/mercedes to basically a luxury Toyota.
Infiniti has also sh*t the bed
Acura has not done much to itself either.
The reason mb added the cla and a class was to pull those fringe buyers into the brand, bmw followed them along.
Not to be that guy but it really actually used to mean something when you had an AMG or an M car, now they are using those brands to upsell the mid range models like the m340,m550, x3 m40, c43, e53, glc43, etc etc
It’s almost as if they are attracting customers solely into the brand within a brand sort of culture.
Hi there! I just signed a new 2020 Aviator Reserve and I can assure you that the price you are paying is not that great of a deal.
I checked out a few 2021 Aviators before settling on a 2020 and the best quote I received for a 2021 with an MSRP of 65,000 was 4500 upfront and 700 per month.
I also got a quote for a 2021 Aviator with an MSRP of 76,550 for 5000 due at signing and 790 a month. So that is basically what you are getting right now with your current deal with an MSRP of 68,440.
I ended up signing a 2020 Aviator Reserve with an MSRP of 77,830 for 800 a month with 1900 due at signing.
If I were you I would look at the 2020s that are left on the dealer lots because you will surely get a way better deal on them.
If you need any help please feel free to PM me.
All of them are 36 months with 10,500 miles and include all taxes and fees
