DEAL CHECK 2020 Jaguar F Type R AWD

I know these don’t lease too well but I wanted to ask fellow leasehackrs about their thoughts on this.

Trying to get them to discount $12k before incentives. Where can I improve? Thank you for any feedback

2020 F Type R AWD
MSRP: $112,584
Sale Price: $102,584
Incentive: $13,000 dealer lease cash
Months: 36
Mileage: 10,000
MF: 0.00001
Residual: 46%
Monthly w/ Tax: $1,148.11
Due at Signing: $2,700

With $23k off MSRP and almost no rent charge you barely got to the “imaginary” 1% of MSRP, the residual speaks for itself. Long gone are the days of $700/mo for a F Type R (4 ish years ago).

Not much you can do there, I’d go for an M8 for that payment.

I know back when I got my F-Type, I was seeing $20-$30k off MSRP for these higher MSRP cars (ie $80-$120k). The $12k discount and $13k incentive gets you there. The biggest problem is that residual, which is a good 10% lower than it was during the golden years.

I love the F-Type but I can’t fathom paying over $1,000/mo for it unless it was an SVR. It’s a phenomenal $500/mo car, and I’d say reasonable at $750/mo. At $1,000+ it just feels wasteful. But if you can afford it, it’s probably the most enjoyable sports car you’ll ever drive.

I don’t know if getting 15-20% off before that $13k incentive is possible, but that’s what I’d personally be aiming for if I were shopping it. 9% off MSRP doesn’t at all seem like a compelling discount.

Yes. The residual kills everything. I am trying to push for more discount but it’s difficult with low inventory. Aiming for $27K.

I don’t think the residual will be back to what it was 4 years ago and those numbers are irrelevant at this point in time.

I placed an order for the Cayman GTS 4.0 due to arrive in December but thinking about going with something with lower payments.

What are some other lease options for $1000 payment?

I would imagine the GTS 4.0 lease payment would be much higher than $1k unless you put some serious down payment?

I’d be financing the Cayman. Lease really doesn’t make any sense on them.

I’ve heard nice things about the z4 M40i and that would be much lower than $1k.

you’ll likely be able to sell the cayman after 3 years and have a lower 3 year cost of ownership than the F type

I would love to compare the difference in the total ownership cost but the numbers on the 2021 Cayman GTS 4.0 are not out yet.

Funny to ask on a lease forum but anyone owned a Cayman GTS? How’s the 3 year ownership on these cars?
