Deal check: 19 Mercedes S560 Cabriolet

EDIT: Have not signed yet.

Love to get everyone’s perspective on this. 2019 MB S560 Cabriolet, Warmth / Comfort, Premium, Driver Assistance, AMG Packages. 13K Miles. CPO.

$87.5K Purchase Price ($142K MSRP)
$5.5K 2 Year Extended Warranty
$2.5K 3 Year Prepaid A Service

  • Tax
    = $100K

72 Month loan at 7.49%, $1729/mo

Personally I think the “loan” is the craziest part of this deal …
Whatever you gain on the price you’re “losing” on the loan terms

Find an Indy Mercedes shop and save $2500 vs financing maintenance. No reason to pay dealer service if not warranty.

Aside from the atrocious payment on an out of B2B warranty car that will be totally out of warranty sometime around halfway through the loan term….

All I can really ask is:

It’s generally recommended to ask for feedback before you sign a deal. But since you asked, MMR is $79300 on a 2019 with 13k so you paid $8200 over MMR.

Cant really expect to pay mmr at a retail store though

Depends on how long they’ve had the car in inventory. And what they paid for it (dealers often buy inventory for less than MMR) I’d shoot for $1000-$2000 over MMR plus dealer fees.

Thanks for the replies everyone. More context:

  1. S560 Cabriolets were discountinued in 2021. Large V8 convertibles are not coming back (see new CLE).
  2. This car was single owner, maintained annually at same dealer. Edmunds dealer retail was $86K.
  3. MB S Class warranty and service are expense. The numbers I quoted are cost.
  4. I plan on owning for 3 years and selling since car will be out of warranty.
  5. I could be convinced to get a new SL on a lease if a broker has a deal available  Last I checked they were on recall due to a fuel pump issue. I did not like the 8 series (too cramped). I had an A5 cabriolet which was great, but would like some more performance.

Service A? So that’s three oil changes basically

More than that

Get a Fidelity Platinum warranty over this. It’ll be cheaper for a lower mileage car like this and longer coverage. You’re gonna owe $55k after 3 years, which will no doubt be neggy eggy unless you pay off quicker or keep the mileage really low. At least have warranty coverage if you need to hold it longer and pay it down.

If you want the car, that’s your desire. But non-AMG V8s don’t hold the same value if you’re using that to justify this purchase

It’s realistically nothing more than that. Check tires, check fluid levels, etc. Anyone can do that. A decent Indy wouldn’t even charge for that 2 minutes of “labor” on top of an oil change.

AMG maintenance and upkeep is insane compared to BMWs. Tires are more expensive, oil changes, etc. The GLS63 I had basically cost me 4k in tires and brakes every year at an independent shop. If MB? closer to 6k!

I am not going to comment on the deal itself, but the finance rate is atrocious.

Which BMW are you comparing it to though? The tires are expensive because of the particular size(s) & tires themselves, not necessarily because they are on an AMG. Performance brakes are expensive regardless of which brand/model they are on. The GLS63 takes a fair amount of oil as well… so quantity alone drives the price up.

Regardless, I would never have a BMW nor a Mercedes parked in my garage without a warranty on it.

It was the 2018 GLS63 and the 2020 X7 M50i. I mean I had all seasons (switched the GLS63 to all seasons) on both cars, 1 was 22 inch and the other was 21 inch. The GLS63 went thru 2.8k worth of tire every 15k miles while I had 24k on the X7 that didn’t need new tires at trade in. Also, I never needed to get brakes done at 24k miles on the x7 but the GLS63 needed a brake service every 8k miles or so.

That is interesting. The vehicles were driven relatively the same way? 8k miles for brakes is pretty crazy imo. I could maybe see if we were discussing something exotic or a bit more finicky.

I do like the taste in suvs though. Those are both ones that I would’ve potentially driven. :sunglasses:
