I’m in the fortunate position of shopping for an exotic car as a daily driver. I’ve tried Googling but results are filled with a ton of enthusiasts who insist cars like a Huracan is a good daily driver, which I’m just very skeptical of. Curious what you guys’ thoughts are. My main criteria are:
Be able to handle Southern California hills without scraping.
Comfortable enough ride that I can drive it daily. I have no commute and average probably 500 miles a month. Ideally I’d get rid of my current SUV due to parking space limitations.
Depreciate slower than an Aston.
My budget is $200-300, with wiggle room on both ends. Something like a DBX would be perfect but I’d rather not eat that Aston depreciation.
Currently on my shortlist are Urus(too much of an Audi?), Taycan turbo, and the Roma.
My heart says a sporty coupe but realistically probably a SUV. I don’t want a G-wagen tho. If I get a coupe I’d keep the SUV and deal with the parking.
If only Purosangue was actually available at msrp lol.
Tbh im not sure of the availability, but from a quick search, it seems like there are at least a few available. Of course youll be paying over MSRP, but these are likely to hold their value to some degree.
Another recommendation under your budget would be the new model Cayenne Turbos. Pretty fun to drive too. I know it isn’t as exotic as a DBX, but would do the job nicely.
It’s hard finding an exotic that doesn’t and isn’t a sports car.
But here are my thoughts for your price range
Sedan/Wagon - panamera turbo (cross turismo for practically)
SUV - urus is probably the best here if depreciation is major concern
Coupe - continental gt or Roma
Porsche seems to forbid new cars being posted on various auto searching sites. Use their Porsche finder tool.
A 911 is probably your best bet. Can be practical, the turbo is stupidly fast and engaging. Won’t get many looks though since that seems like that’s what you want.
Taycan turbo is fun (I have a GTS Sport Turismo) but I wouldn’t call it an exotic.
it absolutely is underrated, so long as you go in expecting a GT, not a sports car. the tech is still behind but other than that it’s stunning, very unique, and well priced for what you get.
Once you get one of the brands with the really finicky owner types, these become very contradictory goals. They are not going to want the miles on the odo or the natural wear and tear of 6,000 miles a year.
911 cab or any other nice Porsche would be my recommendation.
If you like the Taycan you also lease an Etron RS GT for a very reasonable ~1,200 a month
How about a new C8 Corvette Stingray? I know people that daily drive them and say they are very comfortable. Around 100k on a well-optioned example so you can save yourself the extra 200k. Exotic looks, the average person probably thinks it’s a Ferrari, and these days you can order one to your spec and get it within a couple of months, 0-60 below 3 seconds. I won’t even mention the Z06 because of recent Auction prices.
If that’s not to your taste, the Ferrari Roma and 488 GTB/spider seem to land around >300k with Ferrari CPO. If it wasn’t for the scraping issue, I’d subjectively say the absolute best exotic in that price range would be a Mclaren 720s, not sure about how comfortable it would be though.
