I take these kinda risks all the time. YMMV, and good luck
LOL he’s going to take a bath
New post coming up from OP in 2 months that now CA wants tax and what to do about it
Hehehe. Possibly
But I would be more worried about the trade in value.
I dont know if you can withdraw your application or not but there is a once per lifetime limit for the CVRP. If you use it on a car you turned in, you likely won’t get it again.
I don’t know if CA claws back the incentive, online forums show rarely
To be frank. I am actually make a profit selling the car. If I have to pay sales tax AND lose the CA rebate then I would lose about 2k total
I’ve heard they updated their systems to track registration changes for cars with cvrp. Then they will try to get a prorated amount back.
But, I’ve also heard if you are at 28/29 months they let it slide
Oh I see. How long does it take for them to send notification of clawback? I had a friend sell his Tesla 5 months after receiving CVRP and have not heard anything from them. It’s been almost a year now since that happened.
Now may be a time to take the risk given that CVRP is closing down/ending the program for good.
You may transfer the rebate to a new eligible vehicle, here read the implementation manual and find out. I’d also suggest you e-mail CVRP and ask these questions, but the wise thing would be to wait for approval then get a new car and transfer the rebate to the new VIN
Thank you so much!
