I am looking for a daily driver and was wondering this.
Is there a way to find out what brand is offering the best lease deals for a specific month?
Thanks in advance
You are going to need more details than that if you want help.
You looking for an SUV or a Sedan?
What’s your budget?
How picky are you on color, options, trim, engine, etc?
Figure out what you want as far a vehicle type, and how much you want to spend, then you can figure out what leases well in your budget range.
No one can list out a perfect deal for you. Figure out what you want, do some research.
I had done a lot of reading of US News’ car reviews/ lease deals, Edmunds forums, TrueCar, to find out what was being advertised. This was time consuming and I had several spreadsheets going trying to keep track of RV’s, MF’s, Discounts, Loyalty Programs, etc which varied not just by the brand and model of the car, but also by the trim level. It made it hard to figure out what car I could afford, and the prices the dealers were giving me after test drives (or just contacting their internet sales team) seemed absurdly high compared to my then-current Sonata lease.
So I know I’ve posted several times about this, but after reading about the Honcker app on this site (and subsequently on Fortune) I was able to see prices (including the taxes and fees that national advertisements leave out) for many cars quickly, and it really helped me narrow down my list.
While you may or may not end up using Honcker for the lease process, the app did give me more direction as to what cars I could afford (i.e. a Passat had a better lease price than a lower MSRP Jetta), and then I could use the numbers from Edmunds and Truecar to see if the listings on Honcker were competitive (which for the Jeep I leased last month they were) and required no haggling.

No offense, but every car I’ve ever looked at on Honcker was at least $100 / month more than I could easily negotiate with about one hour of work. Some of their numbers are so high that I’m pretty sure they aren’t even taking advantage of dealer / manufacturer advertised incentives.
This simply isn’t true and is misleading. Yes you should be able to beat Honker prices if you know what you are doing but not by that much on their lowest price examples, at least not in the NYC area.
Well, Honcker will only help if it’s available in your area.
To get you something to get started on here are some options. The Kia Forte5 may be the cheapest lease this month. The Hyundai Sonata and Elantra are cheap. VW Jetta and Passat are cheap. Equinox looks good this month if you prefer the SUV.
Reinstalled Honcker just to use correct data here. Looking at a 2018 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T+ as an example. All leases are 36/12k
Honcker -
MSRP $33,030, $0 down
Monthly: $485
DAS: $1700 (first month, fees, taxes)
Leasehackr Calculator -
MSRP $33,030, $0 down
Monthly: $432
DAS: $917 (first month, fees, taxes)
Local Hyundai Dealer (no negotiating) -
MSRP $33,105 (slightly MORE expensive), $0 down, dealer including $1,750 discount right off the bat.
Monthly: $365
DAS: Doesn’t say, but presumably first month, fees, taxes, so should be under $2,000 worst case scenario.
Honcker is at a minimum ~$70 / month worse than the leasehackr calculator and is ~$120 / month worse than the advertised dealership price without any negotiating.
FWIW, I’ve negotiated this same car down to 10% off MSRP before, which would get you into the low $300 / month. Without too much effort, I could easily beat Honcker by $100 / month with the same DaS… probably $150 / month, and, with a little luck and more effort, possibly $200 / month.
I am in the RI/MA area.
I have no doubt you can find countless examples of cars on honker that you can beat by $100/month, but that is not my point. My point is there are countless examples of cars that you or anyone else could not beat by $100/month. So if the op tries to beat the Kia forte5 listed for $191/month with just first month due by $100/month the op will waste a lot of time. This is why the post was misleading.
The OP was looking for a list of cars with the best deals… something he can scroll through quickly and compare options.
Honcker was suggested as a possibility.
My post countered this suggestion by saying that Honcker is not good for this, because many of the Honcker deals are atrocious, and therefore you are missing a broad swath of options.
If, hypothetically, only Kia’s are good deals on Honcker, and the rest are terrible deals, then you might miss a much better deal from Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, etc. Therefore, Honcker is failing to provide a list of good car deals.
