160k for p1->p2 referral is
I’m not really getting anything at all because I’m not using them.
I have a seemingly bottomless pit of Marriott points and a decent stash of Hilton points, but we don’t spend many nights in hotels. So transferring for more hotel points isn’t useful.
The domestic airline I fly almost weekly isn’t a transfer partner, and I have little use for more airline miles.
So that leaves things like statement credits, pay with points at places like Amazon, and using the points as cash on Amex’s OTA (which under no circumstances will I use for flights). These are all low-value redemptions.
Damn okay. No international travel ambitions? Can always get a schwab to cash out a decent chunk over 1cpp or sell (though sounds like you are on the more conservative side and maybe averse to risk of selling?).
$200 x 2/year at Dell + points and your AF covered.
I got 200k/$15k spend.
Dell + Travel bank = fee truly covered for sure
The cash back value and points earning besides travel are abysmal, but the travel redemptions (with some transfer hassle) and benefits are amazing. Easy enough to get some of the AF back through the Uber credit and many others. YMMV but the lounge access and concierge easily make up the value for me. Still, I wouldn’t have gotten the card if I weren’t doing multiple flights to Japan a year. If JAL were a direct partner and had more seat availability, I’d be charging everything to the Platinum…
If interested, keep going on the site logged out and via vpn and you’ll get a 250k points offer with 15k spend. I got it a few days ago.
For non category spend, I’m loving the Robinhood gold card. 3% unlimited cashback, instant redemption of the cash into Robinhood. 5.5% apy and Gold subscription is only $60/yr which is easily covered by the 1% boost in deposits.
I’ve been using my AA SWUs that I’m earning anyway for international (3 trips for 2 in the past year), upgrading from very reasonable Economy fares at the time of booking. We also have 800k+ AA miles sitting around at any given time.
Virtually all of my needs are already met. Or… put another way… I don’t place enough value on having additional options to put in the effort.
I’ve had the personal Platinum for several years and can always cover the AF by clawing it back one $15 Uber credit and one $50 Saks credit at a time. FH&R resorts occasionally delivers some really stellar value… saved us about 50% at the RC in Singapore a couple of years ago.
I won’t wait in line and then hunt for a seat at the dreadfully-overcrowded CLs, which is almost always required. I have Priority Pass from two other credit cards. I average 1 PP visit every ~3 years.
They did just open an Escape Lounge at CMH, which is one of my most used airports, but I mainly just go in for a cup of coffee because I’ve already had breakfast at home, and I’m having breakfast again on the plane.
I also won’t hop terminals just to use a lounge, so almost 100% of the time I end up at the Admirals Club, for better or worse, that’s nearest my departure gate.
What is p1->p2 referral and how do I do that?
Just get a spouse on board and refer to one another
Chase ink business has 120k miles for 8k spend in 3 month ! Crazy deal.
Btw you don’t need a business to apply
When doing referral, the link only shows 100k SUB. anyone know how to get it to show 120k?
Damn, it used to be 4k spend for 100k miles. Nevertheless, Chase keeps extending how long people can get bonus if they have it before. Urrgh.
For inks? 1010
Chat 2 match
Don’t remember the last time it was 4k for 100k …
Over 5 years ago and it was only through a BRM
I was able to get the 250k offer to appear every time for about a week. Of course it had the Lifetime Language in the offer and that was confirmed during the application process when it gave me the popup about bonus eligibility (wife and I have each had ~4 Amex Bus Plat cards in the last 3 years). About a month later, I received an upgrade offer for my Gold Bus card to upgrade to Platinum for 120K points with 10K spend. It came with pro-rated annual fee and early enough to pull the trigger on the Dell benefit in June and July and since it was just an upgrade, no hard pull.
My wife, who has never had a regular Amex Platinum, always gets a “you are not eligible for this offer” when trying to apply for one of these enhanced Amex Platinum offers. No issues at all with Amex Gold/Platinum business, but the personal platinum (where she could take advantage of an enhanced offer even with the lifetime language) eludes her.
If you don’t mind me asking, what do you usually use Amex MR points for? So far, I’ve been doing fine with Chase, however they make it harder to accumulate points now.
