Hey guys, a few months ago I kind of gave up on car leasing. It’s crazy that there a hundreds of sites to shop for cars, but with 30% of Americans leasing cars, there isn’t a single website to lease a car. Don’t get me wrong, I love leasehackr forum, it’s amazing, and it’s a gift, but I’m talking about something different, not a replacement from the forum.
I’ve begun hiring a small team to create a lease finder website. The website will scrape from tens of thousands of dealerships websites across America and find you the car you are looking for. A few years back, I purchased a leased from my local dealership, and that’s what I was taught to do, and then two days later I found out a dealership 15 miles from me was leasing a better version of a car for a lower price. We don’t have a platform to prevent this from happening which is why I’ll be starting to create one. This will be as simple as putting your zip code and car you want, along with options, and all of the car leases in your area will pop up. We will be trying to use as much resources and tools as possible so that the price you see, is the price you get.
That being said, I wanted to know your opinions about this idea as well as suggestions. If you are interested in working on me with this by becoming beta testers, just let me know. I’m very interested in creating an amazing new platform for all of the lease lovers out there!
I don’t see any way for this work, as the only way to get any real numbers on a lease is to talk to a salesperson. It’s not something that the websites have posted. Just those bait and switch “deals” mung35 mentioned.
It seems like the majority of those Rodo deals don’t even exist when people try to get them.
This line makes me think you’re a little out of your element here. You never just shop one dealership. You also never negotiate off advertised prices. In normal times, you engage a few dealers locally (or maybe nationally) and then grind down on pricing. Use month end as leverage. Right now we live in strange times.
Before you spend your money on hiring people, you may want to run your idea and business plan by some folks you trust who understand the car business, the car market, technology, competitive landscape, etc…
Based on your post it sounds like you may be jumping the gun a bit. I’d take a step back and make sure this is well thought out from people who really understand how the market works.
For example…why doesn’t Rodo or another site already do this?
Well…it requires a shit load of maintenance from dealerships to update and present their offers on the site. And, they won’t do it. They don’t do it. The car sells. Etc…
Then, you have someone (a consumer) who has agreed to a deal and your platform has to tell them it’s not real or it sold a la RODO.
Uh… inventory may not be up to date, can be duplicated across related dealerships, and such… may get stale quickly Even manufacturer sites and dealer sites are not in-sync. Hope your developers are cheap…
Something to consider
