CPO v dealer demo

, ,

Talking with a dealer on a 2019 BMW with less than 2k miles. They are offering the car as a CPO. I was led to believe this was a demo. So curious how this plays into lease negotiation. I imagine I have more leverage to grab a bigger discount with the car deemed “used” as a CPO. But won’t the MF be higher? Does a used car have a lower resid than a similar “new” demo? I appreciate any guidance from the group on negotiating a CPO lease. Thanks

As far as I know, loaners/demos are typically are NOT CPOs as they are considered new cars with original warranty and maintenance plan.

If there is a CPO with less than 5k, it’s likely only available for purchase.

What are the differences between a CPO lease and a loaner lease? I imagine the MF will be different. Also, the level of lease support by the manufacturer. Anything else?

There are no supported leases on a CPO by the manufacturer as it’s a previously titled and used car.

You can probably find a third party bank but it will be very expensive with no incentives.

Only real option is to buy a CPO.

@samson, can BMW CPO a loaner + lease it, provided it wasn’t titled? I thought I’ve seen some CPOs being leased but could be mistaken.

I think CPOing it only adds the extra used car warranty, which would be beneficial for someone wanting to purchase, but wouldn’t make much difference on a lease.

My mistake…Looks like BMW offers CPOs for lease, but under a completely separate program. Experts can chime in.

I suppose you can, but I don’t see any benefit to this if you are not buying the car. These strange lease&buy deals through BMW rarely work out in lieu of a traditional lease.

@ joelk01 If you have a lease structure or purchase structure I think it would be better to post that to compare

That’s helpful… thank you… qq - would a leasable loaner ever be CPO’ed? I assume not but just a guess.

Allot of dealers use cpo/demo/loaner interchangeable, but we all know what they really are…fart cars, :red_car::right_anger_bubble:

That’s what I was thinking “THIS IS A CERTIFIED SLIGHTLY DRIVEN NEW PERFECT BETTER THAN BRAND NEW CPO GOOD CAR”

It’s a demo.

I’m pretty sure there is just a miscommunication in verbiage. It’s probably just a demo or a loaner which means they are on 4yr/50k warranty.
