Costco incentive on a deal

Does anyone know 100% if Costco can be applied on a deal where Secondary individual on the contract is the member and Primary has no membership?

TIA hackers!

Which brand are you talking about?

Trying to work on Audi right now.

I just used a Costco certificate for a Bolt yesterday. I checked and nowhere on the certificate does it distinguish between primary and secondary lessee. There is a note when you fill out the form to get the certificate (and this is the same for Audi) that says:
Note: The member who is present at the dealership must match the name on the certificate to redeem incentive. Certificate is not transferable.

I assume that if this other person is on the lease they will need to be present to sign paperwork, so I don’t see a problem, but best to run it by your sales person to be sure.

I also was curious how long you have to be a Costco member to receive the discount
Thanks

you must: (1) be a current Costco member by March 1, 2021;

Thanks I do see that. Certificate also ask if there’s a “co-applicat” I presume i put other individuals name there and their address.

I didn’t have a co-buyer, so I can’t be sure, but I’m thinking it should be the other way. List the other person first since it specifically asks for “Member Information” in that first section and then put yourself as the co-buyer. But I’d still defer to the sales rep, who probably has done this before.

Ask the manager who closes the deal… the rep rarely handles actual paperwork

So the update from Sales person is NO

Costco member has to be primary on contract & vehicle has to be registered to the member.

I can confirm this having used the Costco incentive last fall with Audi. Since I’m the member, I had to be on my fiance’s lease.

The same questions every time Costco is available. I wonder what the “Costco membership” search returns? :smirk:

but, the car was registered to her & not you?

my search function is grayed out so i cant use it LOL

anyway same household ok, different household is no go for Audi.
Per Costco Auto program rep.

They have suggested if they were ever a member in the past, to renew.

The car was ultimately registered to her, but since I was on the lease it satisfied the requirement.

I’ve worked for a few brands (Honda, gm, ford, etc) and in every case I’ve had this come up, as long as the actual member is on the contract (primary or secondary) there wasn’t an issue. Brands will limit how many times a single member ship can used though in the calender year, for instance you cant use a costco membership on 10 trucks you buy for a fleet deal etc.

Costco rep said that Audi in particular is different requirement then other brands.

If vehicle registered to non member, a member has to be on the contract and be in same household.

If member is on the contract but has different household, Costco incentive can not be applied toward Audi.

EDIT AGAIN!

Costco rep called back with clarification saying different household is ok as long as a member is on the contract…

Hello everyone, long time lurker but new member first post.

I’m interested in the current Bolt incentive from Costco, (but I haven’t been a member for 6 or 7 years).

I went to my local Costco last Saturday and re-joined/renewed, (they pulled up my old memberships all the way back to when it was Price Club, LOL,).

The membership guy said that although my new card just says 3/21, in the computer it shows me as a member since 1985.

Does anyone have experience with renewing an old membership on a date after the member since date for the incentive they wanted to use?

Did this long ago membership date in Costco’s system make them eligible for the incentive, (in my case renewed a long expired membership 3/6/2021 when the current requirement is member since 3/1/21)?

Yes, you are now eligible. The computer system is what they go off of. I’ve had clients had to call the Costco auto call center to get the special offer code. Again, we’ll documented with the key phrases, resume, Costco, and Audi or Volvo  happy hunting.
