Considering buy or leasing a BMW X5 50e

,

Looking to buy a BMW X5 50e before the end of year. I read on a couple forums that I should try to negotiate the MSRP first 10%-15% off then focus on the incentives that BMW are offering this month. Can the money factor be negotiated? Also read I should never put a down payment on a lease. Love to get your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

A, B or C?

C?

But why is he talking about MF? Besides, MD charges tax on the selling price and I don’t think they do not charge again on buy out.

Are you buying or leasing? If leasing, the MF is set by the bank, but dealer can mark it up. You want base rate MF, or an additional discount to offset the mark up. Since you are in MD you get the pleasure of paying all the taxes upfront either way. That is going to add about $150 a month to the lease payment unless you pay as part of amount DAS.

Most likely A or B

Don’t consider B. Too much residual value risk in these hybrids. Not as bad as pure EVs, but let the bank hold the risk.

Yeah MD taxes is terrible maybe it’s worth the time to travel to VA to negotiate a better deal.

Taxes are based on where you register the car, not where you buy it.

If you WANT to own this car long term, with rates so low, you might as well just buy it.

If you aren’t sure or you WANT to lease, just know you will have to pay that full tax amount whether upfront or in the lease, the good news is that when this lease is over, you can use your lease return (at-least BMW to BMW for sure) to offset taxes on the next one.

Also, 9-10% off is about the realistic max on a 50e, 15% is beyond a hard cash loss, and a pipe-dream, respectfully.

I have a dealer in the DC Metro area and can set you up with a deal if you’d like, scott@insightautoconsulting.com

You are going to pay the taxes based on where you register the vehicle. You are probably better of buying this vehicle and using BMW’s 1.99% financing for 60 months than leasing. There are no great lease incentives on this vehicle right now.

And as is the case with EV’s and PHEV, buying used is a bad idea. Since nobody wants to be left holding the bag on these electronic systems over the long haul.

How much of a discount would you need on this used one with 2K miles to pull the trigger? $50k off?

That’s a good point I probably will wanna lease it because I found myself getting bored of cars after a few years anyway and I didn’t know about BMW to BMW credit. Thanks for the fee. Definitely appreciate it.

That seems like a pretty good deal. I just hate that color and I probably can get a few thousand off like you said for my used vehicle. I gotta research more about the reliability for long-term if I’m gonna consider purchasing it.

If you’re looking 4 deals, hunt the ugliest colors haha. I agree Manhattan Green is… a bit offputting to 99% of prospective buyers. Basically looks like baby poo after some squash and spinach.

Lack of shadowline and the base rims round out a car that Budget will probably need to put another $25k off to dump from their fleet.

Good luck on the search :+1:

That’s true

How does this deal look???

If you’re going that route with a 2025, maybe you hit up @IAC_Scott or check out the LH marketplace.

Did you get my message yesterday? I’m offering 9-10% off in-stock in your area. I can beat this by several thousand dollars.
