Considering a New Macan S - Should I Act Now?

Here’s my $0.02. if you want to buy a Porsche go for it. Don’t let anyone tell you to go get a new or used 911. Get the Macan S if that’s the vehicle you want and it meets your needs. It looks like you can afford it, so YOLO.

If I found you a Macan S for 9% off would you buy it tomorrow?

Truthfully I’m kind of torn. I love the Macan S but worry it’s a bit too small and a bit more than I want to spend. At 7% I was pretty excited until I stopped by the dealer today and saw how quickly the options added up to get it similarly equipped to my 2020 x3 m40i.

I have two months left on my x3 M40i lease and would love another but there’s no info on the 24 model and the 23 is pretty similar to my 20 so I could just save the 30k and buy out my car at lease end instead of buying a 23.

I looked at the cayenne but it was out of my price range and felt slower than the new X5 but I liked the interior more. Drove the new X5 40i which was nice but I don’t think it’s as fun to drive as the Macan S or my x3 m40i.

Looked into the Q8 based on looks alone but the prestige line has minimal discounts so it pushed it out of my range as well.

I think I’m just waiting for the right deal to come along on one of these and push me in the right direction but I do love the Macan S and if the 24 x3 isn’t getting a major refresh I think it’s the direction I’ll probably go towards. I’ve been checking the bmw blog daily to see if there’s any updates or an eta on the 24 x3 and it sounds like this month the ordering guides might be out.

In the meantime I’m lurking and hoping an awesome loaner pops up or discounts improve on one of these to make up for higher rates.

If the x3 isn’t being redesigned for 24, I’ll be begging you for the 9%.

Have you thought about an SQ5 Sportback?. I just quoted a customer on one of those, 68k MSRP and it was less than an X3 M40i at 65k by a decent amount.

I wish the 24s were out on those too. I had a 2015 and then a 2018 that I traded in for the bmw and the 23 sq5 hasn’t changed much since I traded mine in. I left that off my list but if the q5 refresh comes out before the x3 it would go to the top of my list.

What about buying a cheap kid hauler (i.e. a used sequoia) and buying a fun porsche?

How did you manage to have that much equity in a Ford?

Have you considered a Premium Plus? You might see better discounts vs the Prestige. Have you checked out broker deals in the Marketplace?

Both good reasons to pass.

I did look at the premium plus and on marketplace. Seems like the discounts were only on the premium and the heads up display is something I really want again but it was only on the prestige or premium plus but I think it was prestige.

What was the price difference between the P+ and Prestige?

There’s a new addition coming to the northeast section for Audi this month

The car is financed. I traded in another car and wanted to pay the rest in cash but they offered me 0 percent financing so I financed the rest. As mentioned before, I get the same amount I paid nearly 2 years ago. If you are not familiar with Ford Maverick and the hype around it, look it up. Not much inventory and lots of demand. New ones are marked up like crazy. I was lucky to get my custom ordered one at MSRP

Great Idea but the ā€œfunā€ Porsches (911/decent Cayman or Boxsters) will be all out of my budget, at least if I want a new one. And a Macan S is really fun enough for me.

Really makes zero difference.

I have one fake BMW M car, and another really fake BMW M Car (just has M Sport).

These are the cars I wanted.

An Honda or an F150, are a heck of a lot of difference in investment.

I don’t know of any financial adviser who would tell you to finance at $200,000+ car at today’s interest rates, especially because of how well it’ll hold its value. You don’t get rich paying 7% interest.

Also you’re talking going from 2 car payment, to 5 car payments totalling somewhere around 8-12k per month and expect them to roll out the red carpet.

Just saying they aren’t wrong to tell you to start dropping some cash or you won’t be on every list they’ve got.
