I was hoping that Autovin would provide a cost estimate for this damage, but Ryan, the inspector, did not include any photo of this, although I can see it in the 3/4 view right rear. Should I contact AutoVin about this? I will be turning it in at the end of March. I have EW&T coverage - up to $1,000 I think. I would get estimates from local shops before deciding whether or not to get it done. Ryan used a tool to determine if there was any paint repair. I assume that TFS will have Autovin reinspect after turn-in. I would appreciate thoughts of Autovin experienced folks.
In 2021 I turned the previous vehicle in when picking this one up. I was unable to schedule with Autovin beforehand so it was done by the dealer. The initial bill was way high. I spoke with TFS and the bogus stuff was eliminated.
Autovin didn’t say it is not chargeable. He took lots of pictures including 4 up close that were chargeable very small things. He took lots of other pictures. He did not take a close up picture of this. So when I turn it in and they look at it again, they will say it is new damage.
The odds of them ‘looking at it again’ are extremely slim. If preinspected and no obvious dmg like a missing bumper, they just check a box and send it to auction.
If you try to trade it in, well yes they are going to look at it.
That’s not how it works, it’s not the dealer’s car and they really don’t care, they probably get hundreds of lease returns and are not going to go out of their way to try and nickel and dime you over some scratches on yours.
The dealer is not going to have another inspection done, they will give it a cursory once-over to make sure the doors aren’t falling off but otherwise it will go straight to auction.
That’s why you always get the AutoVIN inspection done and don’t lesve that part up to the dealer.
