Let’s all input some DATA about the Self Driving Software you’ve had experienced so far in any of your vehicles. How vehicle is handling lanes, Centering, Stop-Go in traffic, Navigation etc. keep it fluid and add data as you experience it…
I have only experienced two so far: Tesla Autopilot and FSD trials, and Hyundai HDA2 and they both have some quirks that are annoying.
So far Autopilot has been much much better than HDA2 in all aspects, from navigation to a destination with mapping charging stops, seems to be afluent and on point. Never had an issue in FSD trials as well, as long as you keep focused and pay attention to the road-it’s been flawless so far. The only quirky thing I can think of so far is how if you break-car kicks out of Autopilot
HDA2 had me “fight” over the steering on the freeway far too much vs AP, and whenever there was an abrupt lane change due to construction (I15 in Las Vegas for example) car always goes over the lines and even in regular driving it would occasionally go over the lines per se. I end up disconnecting the steering feature at times just so I can seamlessly control the vehicle.
When vehicle is stopped behind another, you have to either use the steering wheel +/- button or the pedal so vehicle can start driving again while in HDA2
On I15 I experienced the vehicle not changing lanes and displayed “lane type not supported” when I realized what was going on-there was no LINES just the “Botts’s Dots” markings, when actual lines appeared no issues… not an issue on the Autopilot in this section of I15 though
My last couple of trips the navigation was taking me on longer and unnecessary roads, when a clear straight shot was all it takes. (see photos below) Another one was in Lompoc, CA taking me into a base about 5 miles away vs just going through town as a straight shot to my destination.
All in all, they are both good but not great, will do the job and I’m ok with either one as long as they don’t cost “extra” like FSD, I can live with the Hyundai for the price I paid
