On the east coast the state rebates require a DL from the state giving the rebate. They’re not stupid enough to give away the money to out-of-state residents.
Waiting on the calculator to be updated here with the October residuals and MF’s.
Particularly looking at the Ariya Evolve + vs Ioniq 5 Limited, leaning on the Ariya though. Can anyone recommend the best Nissan dealer in Colorado who is ready to make deals and not play games?
Does anyone know if Colorado taxes the manufacturer discount amount that is not technically a rebate?
For example, Nissan may offer a $7,500 discount to compete with the federal $7,500 EV credit that they don’t actually qualify for. So this just lowers the purchase price BEFORE other incentives and the state EV credit.
Example: MSRP is $50k, but negotiated price is $45k for a lease. With $7,500 Nissan discount to compete with federal EV credit, now the price is $37.5k. Now let’s assume for easy math there’s a loyalty incentive for $1k and a state EV credit of $5k, which brings the updated price down to $31.5k.
In Colorado, I’m pretty sure the $1k + $5k taxed at the local sales tax rate, but what about the $7,500 manufacturer discount?
From my understanding after speaking with multiple dealers, any dealer discount is not taxable.
In your case, the $7,500 credit is likely coming from the leasing company as lease cash, not from the dealer, so it may be taxable (though I could be wrong).
As a general rule, dealer discounts are not taxable.
I think you’re correct. It’s just a bummer because Nissan is playing games with their pricing and just reducing $7500 as an incentive discount to compete even though they could’ve offered the price $7500 lower to begin with and then that amount wouldn’t be taxable.
Let’s be 100% clear on terminology here.
The Nissan does qualify for the $7500 ev tax credit under section 45W of the IRA. Nissan financial claims that $7500 tax credit when they purchase the vehicle to lease it to you. They then pass on a $7500 incentive to the lessee. This is how every lease that gets an “ev credit” is done.
Does anyone know if any Colorado Nissan dealers do one-pay with MSDs? I know some Hyundai ones do. My last Nissan I had to go to Scottsdale to find a dealer who knew what they were doing with one-pays. Edit: Couldn’t find any in Colorado.
Just want to mention I did sign a 2024 Nissan Ariya Evolve+ AWD all-in including 8.2% sales tax at $214/month effective, 24 months, 10k miles/yr. $0 drive off, didn’t pay any fees or anything upfront. This was at the Larry H Miller off Arapahoe. First month $0, next 23 months about $224. This included my $1k customer loyalty as I turned in an existing Nissan lease. Total rebates were $16,600.
(I called/emailed 6-7 Nissans around the state and they were mostly playing games. Actually Schomp gave me this deal first but they didn’t have the car ready and Larry H Miller Arapahoe location matched it). If you don’t have the $1k loyalty, you should be able to get this all in at $260/month.
Did they not agree for one pay ?
Coworker got a good deal at Empire in August, Boulder is pretty easy to work with but typically don’t have a ton of inventory. Schomp is one price so usually not much negotiating. The manager at Boulder can do one pays/MSD’s, at least he said so when I worked my deal last year.
They did not want to do a one-pay. Will definitely consider Empire and Boulder next time around!

Hey Colorado Friends,
Just FYI, Learnt that Colorado State rebate is going down from $5000 to $3500 from 2025.
I’m currently working on a number Mercedes-Benz options for leasing. If anyone is interested, their EQS and EQE models is what I’m focusing on, but they also have an EQB line, which are even less expensive and may be a better deal.
There are some heavy incentives/rebates offered by Mercedes currently and I’ve also seen some significant reductions in selling price off MSRP. Think 10% additional off ballpark. Best leases are in the 24-month, 7.5k mile range. Understand though that any vehicle over $80k would not qualify for the CO $5k EV rebate. That’s mostly the EQB line.
Reach out if these interest you and I can share my research and negotiations to this point. I’ll upload my contract if and when I sign a new deal.
Anyone finding deals on a Wrangler 4xe?
Is this a decent lease for a Kia Niro Wave? Seems like quite a few fees and residual is only 58% after 2 years?
For Colorado? No, there are many other EV’s like Ioniq 5, Ariya for better price.
I see many dealers have crazy discount on Wrangler 4xe, I believe you can get best deal around this time.
I know couple of dealer (Westminister) who can give around 12-15% dealer discount
