Chrysler Pacifica Damage before lease-end

I’m new to the forum and don’t have rights to start a new topic. I face a related issue:

I have to return a leased Chrysler Pacific minivan. I have a gash on the side of my van caused by a rock that jutted out into the roadway. At the time this happened, I took it to a body shop and they quoted me $3,000 to do the repair (they felt they’d need to replace the entire door to do the job right). So I imagine that’s something like what I’ll be dinged for if I don’t repair it before returning it to them.

I have a pre inspection scheduled for Jan. 21st. But the lease ends on Jan. 29th. I’m concerned about waiting till the 21st to decide whether to fix the car myself or see how much they’re going to ding me for when the lease ends. That will only give me 8 days if I have to repair it myself (unless they permit me to extend the lease by a month).

If you have any thoughts, suggestions or wisdom to share, I’d appreciate it.

Pay your insurance deductible and fix it before lease end. Why is pre inspection so closed to turn in?

Ask them to repair the door instead of replacing it for cheaper.
