Driving on the highway and a freaking rock from out of nowhere hit my windshield and cracked it. It’s small, like quarter-sized.
Should I go through my insurance to have it filled? Or will the dealership take care of it since I literally just got the car? Or find a cheap third-party on my own to fill it?
Sorry to hear, I know it’s painful. I got a nasty vertical line on my door the first week of my lease, some careless moron opened his door in the parking lot or even did it on purpose. I’m very careful where I park, I’d rather walk a bit more than park in a tight spot and I’m aware of the cars parked next to me. Luckily I could get it fixed, can’t even tell it was there. But it hurt and just dealing with it, finding the right guy to fix it, getting quotes was painful.
Last month, my car had 100 miles on it. Driving to the window tint store, a rock hit the windshield and chipped it. I am in Florida, so there is zero deductible for window replacement. I, however, elected for repair as the new windshield was $3,000. They would have had to ship the windshield from Maserati in Italy…there are no aftermarket Maserati windshields apparently.
I know they say a comprehensive claim won’t affect your premium later on down the road, but I didn’t want to take any chances. The company said if a year from now I decide to replace it, then it is still considered the same original claim and there is no cost. The repair came out looking great!
By ur screen, I think your from Jersey, but when i visited Texas, I found that a lot of cars had windshield chips. Not sure why though but it didnt seem normal.
Well when I tried to get the chip filled it was really hot outside and the car had been sitting for a while so when the guy started to cool the area down it created a huge spiderweb crack down it so now I’m screwed and have to get the whole thing replaced.
