Chevy Tahoe LT 2020/643/m $2000 DAS

,

Hey guys, first timer here. I wanted to get your opinion on this deal my brother got today in writing only. Would you consider this good or bad deal? He must pick this truck up no later than Monday otherwise numbers will be different next month.
Based on msrp of $63,945 and final selling price of $60,224, dealer is only discounting this truck by $3700. However payments quoted are based on much lower selling price. ($54000) We were told that there is a built in discount of $7250 with Costco, which sales rep already took into consideration and we just have to get through Costco. Sales rep calculated money factor of 00150 and residual value of 50%. However, I did check with Edmunds and we were advised that RV for this truck is 56% and MF is 00181. Edmunds advised that GM doesn’t have leases for 42 months. We went back to dealer and we were told that leasing is through US BANK. In any case I hope I input numbers in calculator correctly in order to match final payment which is on fee sheet that was giving to us by dealer.
Thank you for your help in advance.

How many dealers have you shopped? Rebates have nothing to do with “discounts”, that’s probably US Bank, I’d reach out to more dealers, 10% off is the target(before incentives). It’s an outgoing model so unless inventory is tight, i’d expect a better discount.

I would think your calculator would be closer to this than what you have considering the Costco rebate (may be taxed depending on your location). I would get other offers.

Thank you guys. We’ll continue to shop around.

Full disclosure, I hate to be that guy commenting in a thread recommending other cars BUT my family had a Tahoe before. I’d literally rather die than have one for 42 months.

Why not look at the Cadillac CT6? (Assuming you don’t need the vehicle to tow)

Nice for a family hauler and pretty good deals to be had. (cheaper than structure listed above).

Find it odd to rip a GM product only to suggest another one??

The 2021 seems superior in many ways, especially in cargo space behind the 3rd row which I think it’s very important in this space. Getting usability without having to go to a massive suburban.

I was looking at larger trucks before getting an atlas recently. I’d hold off if you can, but admittedly I have no clue when the 2021 is coming out anymore.

Ford Expedition is one to take a look at as well.

Family member had a new Tahoe recently, I was not expecting so little cargo space behind the 3rd row. It’s actually pathetic. They upgraded to a suburban which had way more cargo room.

The interior leaves much to be desired. The new ones look sweet though.

Ethan sold Cadillac and still has a good network of them. If he tells me to get a caddy over a Tahoe, because it’s cheaper and a better quality product, why not?

New one has 26 cubic feet behind the 3rd row compared to 15 before. Still not a ton of space but it’s better

Yeah but this quote is for a 2020.

I found it surprising to name the same company. I assumed he did sell caddy’s before or even still did based on the comment.
There’s no doubt the xt6 is a better quality product, it’s their higher end model. It’s also a pretty different vehicle.

Ethanjlr,
I appreciate your feedback but would you mind briefly sharing your experience with Tahoe?
We need one big SUV for family of 5 and a dog. We were looking at Escalade and were hoping to score a good deal on it but Cadi dealers don’t budge on these at all!!! So if you’re about to lease one, you’re looking at $1100 plus payment which is out of my price range. I also looked at Dodge Durango R/T, vehicle is $51,000 plus msrp and my monthly payments would be around $650/ month. Based on my research, American brands don’t lease well at all. I’m just stuck right now and can’t figure out what to do since there are no big suvs out there with decent leasing program.
Your thoughts and or advise.
Thanks

Don’t you think new 2021 will hold its value for at least first year since it’s a brand new body? I don’t think leasing will be an option on these.

Check if this is available still. NY area. Have you looked into a XC90? There are a lot of great loaners for lease, aronchi has some ones that don’t need rebates for a great price. Like it’ll beat that Tahoe, not sure if size is comparable.

I think you’re trying to say the dealers will not discount the msrp because it’s a new model / high demand. This is possible. But it’s also possible the lease programs will reflect higher residuals and lower money factors offsetting the lesser discount.
I don’t know the answers to these questions as I haven’t researched this product well enough.

Yes you are correct. That’s exactly what I was trying to say.

HersheySweet,

Thank you so much for sending that info, unfortunately that car would be too small for my need. I’m looking for something bigger.
I appreciate if you have any additional info.

Xt6 or XC90 or both.

Reach out to NYCLIFE, if he has any GM deals. He does do Cadillac, GMC, and Chevy, not a focus but doesn’t hurt. Honestly, your choices for full sizes are limited to what, American brands, GX 460 (nyclife has one at 440+tax, 2500ish das), BMW X7, Toyota Land Cruiser, and some others no?

I will reach out to him. Thank you for your help!
