Chevrolet Blazer EV

Hey all, longtime hacker of mostly BMW/MB’s. I saw WA $9k EV lease incentive for 36 mo lease and had to try this. I can get a one-pay 36 months (guessing 24 would be cheaper but like 36) for $4160 if I can get the incentive. Now I wanna be up and up about it so tell me if this is not cool.

We live in portland. My wife’s family has a place in WA. Can they lease the car for me, use their address in WA and I just pay them the one-pay amount? I don’t think I can’t then transfer it as it has to be within same state and I would pay WA sales tax but what about insurance? Asking experts if a good path for that.

I think that’s considered a straw-man purchase and is technically illegal.

would you/wife not need a Wa issued Drivers license with that address too?
especially since it is a state rebate

The great State of Oregon will find this post intriguing… State of Washington too…

Your in-laws would be fucked if they got audited by WA or if the car was totaled and the insurance company found out it was regularly being used by someone else at a different address.

Surely there are more amicable ways to dissolve a marriage than to blow it apart under that strain

If you work hard enough and get roughly 13% off MSRP, you can get a similar one-pay without any state rebates. Is it really worth doing something illegal and having all that anxiety for the term of the lease when you could just get a marginally higher one-pay?

Thanks all. Not going to do it if illegal. Just asking if it was. I do think there are some grey areas in some aspects…

Don’t get too excited about that WA Rebate. you have to make under $45,180 individually or 93,600 as a family.
