Cheap Chevrolet Bolt EV Rebate and Information Thread (For CA)

I was working out my fat ass and it got me thinking. I have someone I know interested in a bolt and with those crazy rebates and deals going, I thought of just putting in a main thread on here to get everything sorted out. The information is fractured and mainly a pain in the ass to look up so this is also another benefit to myself and of course anyone esle here who is looking for all the info in one place. I will update the thread as needed when more info happens and when a change needs to be made.

This thread is mainly going to be about the rebates in California only as alot of them seem to apply to this state

An example of a car I am trying to get for someone:

2020 Chevrolet Bolt LT
MSRP - $37,495
Fast Charging - $750
Total Selling Price before any rebates - $38,245

Breakdown of all discounts (Situational but some of them will apply for anyone)

These are instant discounts applied at the time of purchase
$5,750 - Chevrolet Leash Cash for LT OR $6,750 For the Premier Trim
$1,500 - Lease Loyalty & Lease Conquest
$1400 - Chevrolet Select Market Incremental CCR Program (Seems to be only offered in Northern California)
$5000 - Clean Vehicle Grant (CVRP)
$3000 - Costco Rebate

$17,150 discounted off MSRP for NorCal and $15,750 to everyone esle. These apply to the selling price and not checks or cards mailed to you.

These you will need to apply for post purchase
$2000 - CVRP
$2500 - CVRP Low Income
$1000 - Utility Company (YMMV, check with your local utility company)

$5500 in rebates sent to you post purchase to go toward the lease

Since I haven’t signed one yet and I am still going through the process of this myself, these numbers are super rough but at least gives you an understanding of how the numbers work to get it low

Example of a LT with Fast Charging 3 year / 10,000 Mile Lease
$5701 - All in with tax (At 7.75%)
-$5500 - Combined Post Rebate Discounts (Utility, $2000 CVRP, $2500 CVRP Low Income)

$5.58 a month or $201

Manufacturer Chevrolet incentive to dealer - $5750 LT or $6750 Premier + 1500 Loyalty (If you qualify) = $7250

This is an instant discount given to you by the dealer. It will be discounted instantly at the time of purchase. For up to date incentives for every month, use this link for reference

https://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/bolt-ev/2020/deals/

Clean Vehicle Grant - $5000 (Processing time is 3 weeks to 3 months according to the program’s response)

This is a grant and from the dealerships I talked to, it will be discounted on the price of the car and it’s instant. The way works is it’s based off your income and there’s a calculator on there to show how much you can qualify for. We qualify for the max for EVs which is $5000. You must pre-apply and wait for the program to get back to you. They send you an email and you bring it in the dealer which they discount it at the time of purchase.

**GM Supplier Discount & Sister Programs

As a GM supplier company, you’ve earned the GM Supplier Discount. It gives you a special discount below MSRP on eligible, new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles. Combine your discount with most current offers to save even more.

Costco Rebate - $3000

This just got released on the day of this posting and it seems to be combinable with all other incentives and since everyone usually has Costco, most people should qualify without needing any tough or restrictive requirements

https://www.costcoauto.com/save/model.aspx?makeid=7&model=bolt

CVRP - $2000 (Most users will qualify) + $2500 (Must be low income to get this additional amount)

Post rebate to apply for after you get the car. Once you get the car and license and title, you can apply for this.

NorCal

PG&E - $800

SoCal

SCE or your local utility rebate - $1000

My local utility is offering owners $1000 if they purchase an electric car. They require post purchase documents such as the title or registration. I believe the car has to be registered in the same address as the household to qualify

https://www.sce.com/residential/electric-vehicles/ev-rebates-incentives

Charging option - $1000 or $2000

This is more of a misc discount depending on your choice but they will give you two options on your needs. The first one is $1000 prepaid card to be used at charging stations. The $2000 is toward a charging station to be installed at your house.

Hey do you know how long it takes to get approved for the CVAP grant? I know that grant also only applies to certain dealers and not every Chevy dealer will be in their network.

I think it’s a few weeks. I am in the process now.

I just wanted to post that the Costco rebate is super fast, within minutes. It has your last name and a code that the dealer can use to claim the money.

If you qualify for cvap, you should make $2.5k from this deal. $8k one pay - $5k cvap - 5.5k post rebate = 2.5k profit.

How do you come to that exactly? I was doing the math today

$8000 one pay lease
-2500 CVRP (Low Income)
-2000 CVRP (For getting a bolt)
-1000 for the utility

2500 left

What other rebates are you talking about that I am missing? The first ones only come off the selling price and you will not get any prepaid cards or cash from them. Only discounts off the selling price. The only thing I am not factoring in is the charge. I know one deal posted here counted that toward his final price but I don’t count it.

The one pay is less than 8k since the rebates are higher.

This is an easy money maker if you align all the incentives. I would come ahead by $5k.

Your Chevy rebates are off too. 5750 lease cash for LT. 6750 for Premier. Add 1500 for lease in house hold.

Just a warning, Lease this car, DO NOT BUY it. The lease RV is 52% at 12Kmi/yr, so ~$20K. The current carvana buy price for a 3 yr old one with 36K mi is now ~ $12.5K… so car is not worth anything close to RV at lease end. So return it after 3 yrs.

The 8k one pay deal doesn’t include the cvrp low income grant. so it’s
$8000
-$10500 combined discounts comes to -$2500.
If you got the new 7k one pay deal (with Costco discount and less dealer discount) then you make $3500

A post was merged into an existing topic: Off Topic Landfill 3

With 3k costco, and extra 1.4k customer cash for CA, one pay in california should be less than 7k.

In other words, GM is giving you a free lease to offset the poor epa ratings of the huge SUVs it is selling.

We call those “compliance cars”

You are correct if you were able to get the same discount before Costco new program. Dealers tend to eat some of that and give less discount though.

That’s not always true, especially if you stick to your guns. GM was offering a similar regional incentive/dealer cash early this year that resulted in some people getting around 14% off before the consumer incentives. Just focus on pre incentive selling price and don’t even mention Costco until you have that nailed down.

I’ll be making some adjustments to thread later today.

Hi Guys,
I am not qualified for low income. Need your help to see if I am getting it correctly? What is that $1400 for Bay area?

Taxed Incentives:
Chevrolet 8500
Costco 3000
Lease conquest 1500
Pre incentives = 8500+1500+3000 = 13000

Post Sale Incentives:
CVRP 2000
PG&E $800 Clean Fuel rebate
Anything else for the Bay Area? What is that $1400 some people mentioning?

Post sale rebates= 2000+800 =2800

Thx for breaking this all down, very concise and helpful. I don’t think I can resist this hack if all the stars align. I am stuck with LADWP and it looks as if they are one of the few utilities not offering any rebates, sadly.

SDGE is equally cheap and offers $0 fwiw. The only upside down here is that our lease tax is the state minimum The only upside down here is that our lease tax is the state minimum

So I got a few quotes from the approved dealer list for the $5000 grant. Basically, you won’t get the full $5000 because not only do they mark it up in MF or something on the back end, all the ones I spoke to added dealer garbage (protections, nitrogen for the tires, BS warranties) that the discount is quite alot of less. Prices ranged from $1300-$2500. It’s negotiable though, but this what I found out contacting dealers in LA. Got around 300s before tax or around $12000 for one pay.

I am having a hard time finding a dealership in NorCal wanting to do deal on Bolt. The one claimed to be the “largest and most inventory” is giving me the following quote:

2800 DAS and $139 + tax - you have to have current lease and supplier to qualify. This already takes into account the costco incentive. The one pay # given to me was $7299 for LT w/DCFC, if you have all 3. I do not have current lease, so the one pay for me is 8799 on LT w/DCFC. Is it unrealistic to expect lower $?
