A one off? Or endemic of them not being able to keep up with demand and lowering their standards?
Lol someone sold a rent a car to carvana… hehe bound to happen eventually
I seem to recall Hertz having issues with other times they had reported cars stolen, including people that had active rental contracts with them that got arrested.
I wonder if this was Carvana’s screw up or Hertz’s screw up. Seems like the new vehicle owner had a title, which would point more towards Hertz to me, at least as far as the stolen part.
Hertz has been messing up a lot in this manner. I would not be surprised if it was hertz again who messed up.
This has been a huge issue for Hertz. It was an issue pre pandemic but has gotten worse with their trimmed down staff post-pandemic.
“In the past, the company has said “It’s up to law enforcement to decide what to do with [each] case,” but of course, if the entire pretense of an arrest is based on a false or outdated report, that’s not right. Hertz refused to comment on this particular case to CBS, but in the past, it has called these lawsuits “meritless,” seeking their dismissal on a slew of legal technicalities.”
I definitely wouldn’t trust anything Hertz says.
