Cars with extra / hidden storage cubbies like mk7 gti?

I’ve TRIED googling in various ways. My wife has a '16 GTI that we got for a steal 5 years ago as a CPO just before COVID. We stopped by the VW dealer for a recall, and she browsed the new GTI and was crushed to discover they removed all the “coin drawer”, “under seat drawer”, etc that she uses all the time. Helpful salesman said '21 was the last year (last year of mk7) with the extra storage. '21 is already getting somewhat older, and I don’t think there are any CPO models available.

She says all her friends she talks to have no idea what she’s talking about (i.e. their cars don’t have extra cubbies for storage).

Anyone by chance know of any compact cars that have similar types of cubby storage? I don’t even know how to compare / search for exactly - it’s not like “interior space” or “storage space” would highlight these.

I’ve found a few “cars with innovative storage” lists, but that’s not the same. If I include Golf, it looks up golf carts. If I include gti, it is all about “what car to get after my gti”.

Any ideas? Not looking for a few months (daughter is going to move away to college at some point, will probably take the gti).

Alas, no.

My 2018 Golf Sportwagen didn’t have the under seat drawer, so I imagine they got rid of that for Mk 7.5s (but it does have the coin drawer).

Idk the answer to your actual question but why not keep the GTI and let your daughter take a less unique car.

Thanks. We HAVE thought of that… Wife was just wanting something a bit newer with more features (sunroof, etc) - the '16 is a base GTI.

I have a Mk8 R. No sunglass holder. Narrow door cards. Tiny trunk. Practicality is absolutely abysmal. Look at the civic sport hatch backs.

Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep loved doing shit like that, we had a Dodge Journey that had underseat and underfloor cubbies.

Thanks. Our 3rd car is a '15 Town and Country that the wife drove before the city narrowed all the lanes to widen bike lanes. Not sure if Stellantis/FCA has anything resembling a Golf/GTI though.

Backup plan is probably to get the daughter a Corolla hatch.
