Car payment relief during Coronavirus + incentive programs such as 'zero interest' and deferred payments

I agree and I saw some people getting help from banks. It seems like the banks are already consent to help but people here are against it!

I ma not using the car because I cannot not because I do not want it. These are different.

Nobody is against deferments. Many of us are against people asking to have payments outright waived or simply forgiven and to end their lease early without penalty, provided you have the means to pay your obligation. Thatā€™s the issue people are against and pissed off over

Thatā€™s not the banks fault. Contact your congressman or your state government. They are the reason you are stuck at home (rightfully so). This is not the banks fault.

Why people should be pissed off?!! There is a crisis all over the nation and everyone should help.We are all taxpayer and noit always begging for free money. I do not get it why people are against helping people in anyway. This is not a time to just look at the agreement and contract clause! This is an unusual moment.

You ARE BEGGING FOR FREE MONEY. You wanted to have your payments waived on your car.

Being a taxpayer to the government is not the same thing as owing money on a financial obligation

Not true. People here are actually trying to share different ways people who need help can get it.

People are getting mad at the fact when some are trying to use this crisis to get out of the obligation early like ending lease early without penalty, no payments for few months etc. and then blame the banks for not being fair.

Iā€™m not even against people asking the bankā€¦ but people expecting the bank to do so is another story.

Iā€™m criticizing yours because none of your comments hold any merit. You sound entitled as if youā€™ve done enough so deserve some sort of break.
Thereā€™s a reason youā€™re being shown no support.

Exactly, so pay your damn lease and stop adding to the problem!

Good point. Think of the car dealers that are going under because they canā€™t do any sales. To help them out, I assume youā€™re willing to pay double on your current lease when they call you and askā€¦ gotta help everyone out, right?

Apparently we are just a socialist nation now with the expectations of handouts at every corner.

This thread is so stupid.

You do realize that there are other people on the other side of the transaction?

Its not just, me, me, me, me, me.

Not everyone that works at a bank is flooded with cash. Inevitably, by you thinking you deserve a freebie and not making your payment it disproportionately effects the lower income, probably more expendable, people working at a bank. So you are probably taking from people that wouldnā€™t be able to make their payments without work, which by the sounds of it, you can.

This is the finest sense of entitlement.

This.

Iā€™m not against banks helping out, but you have no right to EXPECT them to help out, because you signed the contract. By signing that contract, you assumed the risk that you would pay. There was no clause that said you can just not pay because you lost your job or because thereā€™s a crisis going on. A bank extending an offer to defer payments is a pragmatic approach to the situation, but simply expecting that you donā€™t have to pay because you feel entitled to that option is problematic.

Ideally, people have emergency funds in place and purchase within their means. So that when situations like this arise, theyā€™re not asking for free money, and the economy is sustained. This goes for both consumers and banks.

The help you seek is coming via the government whom you pay taxes, $1,200* stimulus money coming your way. There are plenty of people who are less fortunate than you and to them you could be considered ā€œrichā€.
Why donā€™t you put your money where your mouth is and pass your check along to them?

With a big asterisk

However, there are income limits on receiving the stimulus check. If your adjusted gross income is less than $75,000 for single filers and $150,000 for joint filers, then youā€™ll get the full amount. For every $100 you earn above those limits, though, the payment drops by $5. That means that for those with no children and income levels above $99,000 for singles and $198,000 for joint filers, no stimulus check would come. Those with incomes between those levels would receive a reduced stimulus check payment.

This thread has the top 2 so far. Both will be tough to top, but I expect someone to come and surprise me

Thank the guy after JFK for that one.

And stimulus money is based on 2018 tax return. Most families are losing their jobs now and unemployment is rising now, not in 2018.

I am and I challenge all others that can to give their stimulus check to someone in need.
