Car payment relief during Coronavirus + incentive programs such as 'zero interest' and deferred payments

Hell, I want to know what car rental agreement doesn’t charge you for having the car but not driving.

I’ve even returned rentals early and still been charged for those days. And that’s with ultra mega status.

RANT COMING

I just feel entitled. Why do I have to pay for anything I do not think I should pay for…I do not get it!!!

My car is just going to sit in my drive way for 2,3,4 weeks because of a pandemic that i have nothing to do with. I should not have to pay for those weeks, banks should just extend my lease and so I can enjoy my car longer and not pay anything extra. I have planned everything in my life around this car since I got this lease, I do not even go on vacations so I can enjoy this car every single day I leased it for.

I do not get it!!!

You must have missed the “/s” part.

Not quite… If you’re renting something and you turn it in because you’re not using it, then that rental becomes available for someone else to rent out and use. What you’re asking for is for you to keep the car in your possession, and not have to pay for it either.

The reason that I expect the bank to waive some payment is that we are all together in this. I agree that we do not have a "force majeure " clause in our lease agreement but I am staying home and loosing money because I want to protect everyone. This pandemic is no one’s fault and everyone of us should pay for that. So why not the rich bank pay for some payment while a lot of people getting laid off and paying extra expenses due the outbreak. This is an extraordinary situation that you cannot compare with regular time that we are free in peace. Everyone should pay even the wealthy banks.

well I agree with you here, everyone should pay, but in your case… you’re trying to NOT pay. So in reality you’re saying only the wealthy should pay.

Which is why many banks are offering deferred payments when they don’t have to

This makes absolutely no sense…So if the bank has a lot of people defaulting and asks you for double your payment for the rest of your lease “because we are all together in this”, would you do that? You signed a contract and are expected to uphold the terms that you agreed to, even if you lose your job or experience other hardship.

If you are experiencing a hardship, some banks are being nice enough to defer payments for a few months, but there are no “freebies”. Remember, the fat hogs are the ones that get slaughtered.

Adulting f*cking SUCKS. :man_shrugging:t2:

I understand your use of the royal we here, but you (might) get a check, and the banks get endless free capital (they are the we).

Exactly. And only it you need a deferment for hardship. I am still working so I am still paying everything. And buying stuff to support businesses when I’d rather save.

Just to be frank, you’re staying home to protect yourself & your family too.

You have changed the your basis of your initial argument, you wanted to not pay cuz you’re not using the car not cuz you cannot pay.

if you look thru the thread you will see that banks have been very forthcoming in trying to help ppl who have lost income and are having difficulties. They have postponed payments, provide extensions etc.

This crisis has been different, everyone is trying to help everyone within reason. First time i have seen that in years.

Mine are owned outright but if my tenants need help I’ll be glad to help them however I can but at the same time I’m not running a charity and I have running expenses there too (HOA, Insurance, Property and income tax)

Our day jobs are pretty secure but similarly if my lenders on our homestead, autos and student loans are willing to offer some assistance I’m not against taking it.

You should use the car right now, go for a drive and get some fresh air. Clearly your judgement is clouded by cabin fever or something. This isn’t the banks fault for them to liable for you not driving your car.
To answer your question though, No there’s not a way for you to stop paying the lease due to lack of driving.

Hey Mods- Is there a landfill thread called “Worst pandemic questions I’ve ever seen” yet?

I already paid in different way by losing a portion of my income. Banks should too.

Screw it. Everyone deserves a handout. Mortgage…screw em. We’re all in it together. Cars…forget it. We’re all in this together. Credit cards, personal loans, all expenses…we shouldn’t pay anything, even if we have the means to.

This is catastrophic in many ways, and nobody wants this situation. THIS DOESN’T MEAN FREEBIES FOR THOSE WITH THE MEANS TO PAY! You signed a contract. Whether you use the car/house/whatever or not, the bank lent you money. They provided you a mechanism to obtain that property/item. Deferments are one thing, but expecting not to pay because you’re stuck in your house is goddamn ridiculous. The US is not a socialist nation.

Give me a break already

my first question was asking if there is any help from banks. Now I see some banks help people and it is good. In other words if they did not help then it was problematic.

This is why I’m expecting to receive nothing from the stimulus bill. And I’m alright with it. Maybe a little sad. But I also know there are plenty of people who need the money, and that’s who it should go to anyway.

Who are you that criticizing people’s judgment? I was just asking if there is any help from banks and it seems some people got help.

No, you specifically said you aren’t using the car and shouldn’t have to pay.
