Car on lot for 420 days

Would you buy a new car that has been sitting on the dealers lot for 420 days? Why or why not

It has warranty so why not as as long as you get a good deal. Do an oil change and enjoy it.

Was it in the showroom? There might be upwards of 5,000 farts embedded in the drivers seat.

Negative. Sitting outside in the Eastern US.

Which car?

Sounds like precisely the environment that a car was designed and engineered to be in

Did it get a birthday cake the same day it got a new inspection sticker? Is it signed up for Kindergarten yet?

I was thinking more like this when I saw 420 days

The lot porters probably hot box it daily, no matter how many days it’s been there.

It might have been punched so it might not have its entire warranty left.

I don’t think I would necessarily mind, but keep in mind that if it’s been on the lot that long chances are they are the kind of dealership that’s waiting for a “special” buyer and they don’t particularly care whether it sits or not. For better or worse they may be convinced that there’s someone out there willing to pay what they want for it, who isn’t necessarily looking at how long it’s been there.

Are you still traumatized about that 2018 Bolt? /sarcasm

Definitely ask. You are midwest, so Electric’s proposed situation might be accurate.

I’ve had a few interactions where what they were offering me made no sense based in the age of the inventory, so I think that once it goes past a certain point it doesn’t really matter to some stores if it’s 91 days old or 491 days old. They will roll the dice and find a buyer at the price they want. Forget the (2019) Bolt I wanted, that same store has a 700+ day new 2018 Chevy Volt on the lot too.

I got a car that was in the lot for 300+ days. The battery had very little juice left and gave warning lights at the dealership. The dealer offered to replace it free of charge. Slight inconvenience but could’ve been worse.

I’d check the battery if I were you.

What does “it might have been punched” mean?

Why this matters? Warranty can start from this date, so can maintenance.

I’m not sure if mystery cars come with maintenance, :mage::crystal_ball:

This what a 400 day old Saab looked like back in the day, ordering new colors was always such a gamble

Saab was ahead of the curve on a lot things, that gray being one of them

Depends on what type of car, you would have to be specific, and mileage also.

40% off pre-incentive (if there were any)?
