Car Insurance Options (that covers rental) when you have no car?

Hi
I am going to assume there is going to be a 2-4 week gap between when my new car comes in and when I have turn in my BMW. I am going to be traveling anyways, so it’s fine. But I will need a rental car.

Do I keep my current Geico insurance (even though I won’t have a car) because Geico does cover liability when in rental cars. Or is there another way just to get liability without actually having a car? The offers from rental cars companies for $15 a day is too ridiculous.

Keep your insurance active. Even if you are required to get a non owner policy. The rates on your new car will be much higher if you have a gap in coverage. The savings on a month of insurance will be much lower that the increase on a policy that has no prior insurance.

Geico sells non-owners policies.

oh great. Let me check with them that. Did not realize that was thing.

You may also want to get a credit card that has car rental insurance primary and book the rental on that. Or get Amex premium car rental coverage for $16-$20 per rental period (up to 30 days I think).

That way you’re covered for collision and comp in addition to liability.
