Car Dealer says GM Supplier Discount requires my friends license and paystub

Hello,

So i’ve been trying to lease a 2024 cadillac lyriq and a very nice gentlemen here provided for me a supplier code generated for friends and family.

The dealership is giving me a headache to try and use it, claiming that “we need the supplier’s drivers license and paystub or employee badge”

I asked my friend and he mentioned how, thats not required. The dealership even send me over some paperwork where it says it is required.
Anyone have a document where this is not required?

You need a GM Supplier for Friends and Family Referral

I just leased from Cadillac using supplier discount and they needed to see proof (I used pay stub). Wouldn’t give me discount without.

Seemingly GM are tightening up on using this

That is only applicable for a person submitting their own supplier code. If they are already established and providing giving you a shared EV supplier allowance code then the only requirements are:

1. Collect your friend or family member’s date of birth, ZIP Code and your Company Code.
2. Select “Get Authorization Number” below.
3. Once you have your authorization number, pass it on to your friend or family member. Authorization numbers are valid for 90 days.

I have given 2 codes to people and they did not have to provide any of that.

If he generated the code for you he should have put in your zip code and birth date. All you should need to do is show ID that matches that information.

If the dealer will not honor the code then you can either move on or try to sort it out with GM

Just spoke to GM supplier official phone support, and they told me dealership will require it for security reasons.
