The young Ayn Rand that Libertarian boys swoon over, or died-collecting-government-handouts Ayn Rand? Normally I wouldn’t ask, but seems relevant here.
You must be replying to somebody else because I never said a word about paying nothing. And, yes, of course it is my money they take. They take yours, too (unless you don’t pay taxes). And I totally support the positives they do with it. I never said otherwise.
I was responding to the idea that it’s “okay” to steal it because it’s “your money”.
And that only works if you don’t think collecting taxes is a worthwhile concept.
My only complaint is that they don’t collect enough of them from billionaires.
Exactly. That idiot.
My contention is that it isn’t stealing at all, however. So, no, it is not OK to steal. They have, however, stolen from me because they said “pay $xxx in taxes and we’re paying $xxx to your school district.” I paid the taxes and then they said “oh, we’re cutting funding to your school district. too bad.” Yes, of course I’m simplifying it, much like this whole topic is simplified. As I’ve mentioned here before, too, they’ve owed my family a rather large refund for over a year for taxes that were wrongly withheld in the first place. Again, stolen from me, as far as I’m concerned. They have zero accountability. That does not mean I feel all taxes are bad.
I’d just as soon no ev got any credit. Why do my tax dollars pay for your car
Wasn’t it great when the discussions were around unicorns and shaming people who over 3 years pay more than 20k on an X90? Now we have people celebrating paying over 600/month and putting 7k down for a mid level 5 series. No shame on them, it’s just the current market.
I long for those days. Let’s make leasing great again!
This is the small brain response. Big brain response is to figure out how to use it to your advantage. Government is taking your money and blowing it on far stupider things on a regular basis.
Why do my tax dollars pay for billions in oil subsidies?
Why do my tax dollars pay for Afghani police gender studies?

Is a ~51K MSRP 2023 Mach E Select AWD flippable in NJ, if I get it for ~47K out the door? I might be able to claim the $7500 tax credit, but not sure, will depend on the income threshold, so I’d take a gamble there. Anyone know for how much these are selling (assume under 2000 miles on the odometer).
You can’t claim the tax credit if you intend to flip it.
If one buys it with the intent to keep it, BUT you are being prudent & want to investigate all options in case one does not like the MME, then one should ask about flippability in case the MME is not ones cup of tea.
Not if one wants to survive an IRS audit
If one keeps it for 1 yr then its Kosher to flip and still get the tax credit in 2024 without an Audit ?
There is no time requirement for ownership.
I don’t think we need to be anal about every statement. The person is evaluating their options in case they don’t like it. Are you planning to snitch to the IRS on the poster?
And let’s be real the IRS isn’t going to magical link this poster to their tax return.
Of course not, just the ones that you can draw a straight line to intent without a ruler. I’ve ignored at least 100 similar question that barely intimated. Some people are not aware, and some are very aware. Just like a “how do I fraud?” question the answer will always be “don’t”. In the end nobody needs to snitch, that takes care of itself.
