Hey guys, I wonder if it’s possible to build a 3-series on bmwusa.com and work with a dealer/broker to get a lease deal? What are the discounts and timeline gonna be like?
Yes you can, few weeks to few months. Discount depends on broker.
Yes you can. Send the build code to a broker, should be a no problem 10-12% off MSRP pre incentive.
For a 3 series, it’s not worth it. You’re better off looking for one in inventory than ordering it from Germany right now.
Inventory is drying up especially for M340i, so I believe deals are getting worse at least for a few months. I think if I wait a bit and build a 2021 model, the discount off MRSP might actaully be better, no?
If a broker can get a dealer to discount that heavy on a custom order right now than I would absolutely jump on it! Inventory is more than drying up. Our dealership alone lost over 300 cars from our allocation due to the factories being closed for a few months. Just…poof! Gone. The 2nd half of 2020 should be really interesting. The only future I can see is demand far exceeding supply and dealerships tightening up pricing to invoice at best. Of course, brokers have to get their deals from us so their pricing would follow suit. I may be wrong but either way, the market will adjust and life will keep moving.
Aren’t the 2021 BMW M340’s supposed to be hitting dealerships in July?
Or Mexico…
so trueeee.
@leakhash I don’t know, nobody does. I doubt it though, demo inventory is a better bet for a deal. New you’re going to struggle to get a discount on a high demand low inventory car, and I assume very few dealers will be willing to give a heavy discount on a custom allocation.
Right now there are zero M340i produced and none even waiting for production. The factories are just now getting back to building whatever 2020 models they are still giving us.
For 2020 M340i nationwide there are still 202 units scheduled for production and another 80 units that have been produced but not yet shipped. Keep in mind that this is nationwide so those numbers are nothing.
I don’t think we will be seeing any 2021 models until at least the end of the year.
Just curious, will the 2020 models currently in production be delivered with “2021” label? Changes should be trivial from 2020.
No they will be MY20 vehicles.
What’s the difference between ‘waiting for production’ and ‘scheduled for production’?
In more normal times, what’s an achievable pre-incentive discount on a customer order vs dealer inventory?
It’s basically the same thing. What I was saying is…there is not MY21 allocation yet. There’s still 2020 allocation scheduled for production (not started yet but still going to happen).
Depends on the dealer. Invoice is about 6% below MSRP and most dealerships (including ours) don’t really feel the need to order a one-off custom vehicle at a “negative” deal.
So doesn’t sound worth it at all unless you’re loaded or are dead set on a particular combination of colors/options.
I always wanted to custom order a 3 series wagon at some point in my life, at least until they stopped offering manuals and wagons. Some of us like the odd duck configurations you’ll never find in dealer inventory.
To get a brand new vehicle, built entirely to your specific requirements, and get it at cost still sounds like a good deal to me. But I’m a dealer so… Try to custom order anything else from any other industry and it would be MSRP or more.
Always seemed a little odd to custom order a lease anyway. Unless you knew for a fact that you were going to buy it at the end. Most of our orders are for long term ownership.
I suppose LH has spoiled us all, hasn’t it?
