Can GM tire and wheel protection be shopped around after lease starts?

Hi,

The dealership wants $960 for the wheel and tire protection, which I feel like is a lot (it’s a 36/15k lease since apparently it is the same price as a 36/12k lease). Never heard of a 15k lease be the same price as 12k either. Its a 24 blazer EV RS eAWD.

Can I shop around for the protection at other dealerships after the car arrives?

I know I can also get certificates at discount tire too, but that won’t cover the wheels; only tires. Who knows if my wife will hit the curb a lot since it’s a larger car.

You can buy many tires and wheels for $960. It is probably smarter to put that money into a high yield savings account and see how it goes. Most wheels can be cosmetically repaired for less than $200 each and aftermarket OEM wheels probably about the same.

You cant add afterwards. But an effective $27 a month for tire n wheel insurance isnt a bad deal specially if you will be driving it 15k miles a year.

You sure 24 months isn’t the cheaper structure? Also aren’t you going to be out of warranty for part of the lease?

36 is better for me because of a state incentive. Car warranty is 3 yrs too

Yes but car warranties are not 3 years unlimited miles. Its either / or whichever comes first.

Wow you are right. No reason to do 15k then. Great tip! Have you ever heard of a 15k lease have same residual as a 12k?

Never. I would highly recommend the deal you have been offered over here so the folks can guide u a bit.

I told the finance guy to double check with GM on the 12k residual. I wish GM financial would answer me when I asked them the question. Maybe the cost of wheel and tire protection will be lower with 12k, guess I’ll find out tomorrow.

A dealership sent me this, the vehicle is a blazer EV but sent me this as an example and the price is on top.

I meant your actual lease deal. Also seems like they lowered the tire n wheel to $565 ?

Nope, the leasing dealership didn’t budge from the $900+ GM wheel/tire warranty. So I searched online and found another Chevy dealership from far away and they gave me the above quote/attachment. I just don’t know if that coverage is good for that price and if anyone has used it before.

My actual lease deal is $310, zero due at signing for 36/12k for the 2024 blazer EV RS eAWD. I’m satisfied with that price and after state incentive it’s $225. Signing it on Saturday when they deliver the car for freeee

I wouldnt take a chance with another dealer. Honestly never heard of it being sold separately.

The Allstate is a third party one, kind of like an extended warranty; it’s not the GM warranty

You don’t need tire and wheel

How come? Either that or discount tire certificates at least

Why do you think you need tire and wheel protection? Unless you absolutely trash your rims and tires it’s typically a waste on a lease.

Check the details but a lot of these plans just cover you against damages at lease end. So you’re spending $900 or whatever but getting no benefit from that. If you’re going to wear your tires out, then take that $$ and just buy a new set once they get low.

What exactly does it cover? Tire and wheel damage during the lease or when you trade in or both? It’s a couple hundred bucks to repair rims and tires aren’t that expensive.

Tires are around $250 each and I usually get a nail or screw here and there. It covers repair and replacement of a tire if can’t be fixed. Also includes PDR for dents, windshield fixing, small rips and things like that. It’s on the item i attached. The cost is around $525 for the 3 years
