Can dealers negotiate on the cost of mileage allowance?

Hey all,

First time looking for a lease so this might be a dumb question (tried to search for it but no luck) but can dealers offer discounts on the cost of mileage allowance? For instance, let’s say if you go from 10,000 miles per year allowance to 15,000 miles allowance (before purchase). If it normal costs $1,000 more for that difference, can the dealership charge less or is that set by the manufacturer? Thanks for any insight!!

No, as far as I’m aware. The manufacturer’s finance captive or bank establishes usage rates.

They can choose to discount the car more, which means the original deal probably wasn’t great.

“Is your deal good” is a much more important question than whether you can haggle on extra miles

The banks sets mileage allowance.
What dealers can and often do is mark up the money factor and acquisition fee. Find out what the base amount is for both and then if your dealer’s numbers are higher, they’re marking up and taking the profit.

Can be cheaper to buy the miles up front

Everything is pretty much negotiable, and as a previous poster replied, do as much as possible up front as youll get the best pricing at that point. If youre still worried about getting a good deal, try and locate a broker who has experience with the brand you want to lease. Good luck!

RV is not negotiable. Neither is MF if you’re already getting base MF
