(CA) Incentive on BMW/MB Loader/Demo

Hi, I’m currently looking for a loaner/demo vehicle — ideally a BMW i4 or i5, or a MB EQE. I’ve been checking around but had a few questions about how leases work specifically for loaner or demo units.

A few things I’m unsure about:

  • Incentives/Rebates: Do loaners/demos still qualify for all the standard new car incentives like loyalty, conquest, military, and recent college grad? Or are some of those excluded on these units?
  • MF: Is the MF typically the same as a new car lease for loaners, or does it get marked up by the dealer?
  • RV: I understand that the RV is adjusted down based on the mileage already on the car — is it just a standard mileage adjustment, or is there a different calculation?

My target is 36/7.5k, 1st mo drive-off.

Where are you looking to be monthly? I have a BMW dealership still going deep on these. The BMWs get the full rebate for i4s and i5s. but with a higher discount on new, you’ll often do better vs. the residual penalty for mileage on a loaner.

I am thinking ~600 for 2024 i5. Not sure that’s achievable.
I don’t think the new one can go that deep but please let me know. Feel free to give me an inbox.

I feel like the discounts ive been offered on loaners far surpasses the new car discounts

That’s honestly barely possible on an i4.

It depends on the loaner. The mileage penalty may outweigh that.

You can answer all your questions by looking at any Marketplace listing with a LH calc.

The important question you didn’t ask is what cars are most hackable right now. You can scratch the i4 off that list for starters. The great deals from Q1 have disappeared and RV/MF worsened.

A better alternative to looking for loaner deals is to look for transfers in Private Transfers and swapalease.com

That’s not a target. Any lease can be first month DAS, credit permitting.

A target is a discount percentage before all applicable incentives at buy rate MF… build a LH calc around that, as most other inputs are “it is what it is” and cannot be changed. If that resultant payment fits in your budget then that’s your target.

Thank you for your advice — that’s what I’m doing.

I just want to be sure about the numbers and rebates, especially whether they are the same for loaners/demos. I haven’t been able to find a clear answer — just a few scattered mentions here and there.

Thanks again for the suggestion to build a calculator. I’ll definitely do that.

For BMW, I think it’s model specific (which might explain why you can’t find a clear answer).
