CA Clean Vehicle Credit if you trade your lease?

I’m thinking of leasing a Chevy Bolt with plans to trade the lease after six months. Would either I or the recipient of the trade be eligible for the $2k rebate? If not, it’s probably a bad plan.

You have to keep the vehicle for 30 months for the CA credit and I don’t believe the 2nd leasee would qualify.

Respectfully, even if you could keep the rebate, it’s a bad plan just in lost tags/title/taxes. And even if you roll everything in, the bump in the lease payment makes it less attractive to swap.

CVRP is prorated, so you have to pay back the remaining 24 months ($1,600) assuming you get rid of the car after six months.

Looks like CVRP has been reduced to one per lifetime. But if you only gotten one rebate before Dec. 3rd, 2019, you are still eligible for one.

Is the new one rebate limit per person or per household?

Imagine if there were some authoritative source on the Internet:

There are lots of CVRP threads here, but since the program does change from time to time (as it recently did, as discussed in several threads), perhaps check the source first. :man_shrugging:t2:
