Apparently they’re limiting it to the GC only at the moment for allocations, mainly due to inventory build up of the other 2 on the lots. Hopefully that situation changes, but we shall see…

The rear seat room is pitiful Its really a 2+2 (or maybe 2+1.5…LOL)
That said, it is pretty amazing that we are living in a time when a luxobarge like this can get into the 10’s @ high 120s stock👍
Bmw is all over the place right now with this m8 aka m6, why is there an m5 and m8 gc??? mb axed the cls63 after it caused issues with the e63. I would say the m8 gc should be extremely low production and then you can bring the m8 coupe back. What does the m8 compete with? An s63 coupe is another low selling model.
Bmw is very confusing here at 150k does bmw want to try and pull some sales from bentley???
Not even luxobarge, we got sedans in the 10s lol. seats 5 passengers and can eat up some 800 cc bikes on the highway (e63,m5,charger)
No Sir, its a 2 seater trust me. I cant put my daughter car seat behind me as Im 6’2 and to put it behind my wifes seat, the front has to be set ahead slightly more than half and then the front pillar becomes a dangerous point for your eyes/head when getting in an out.
This is truly a first world problem
BMW seems to be heading in a questionable direction as of late.
M8s being axed, paired with the obnoxious front grill on the G8x.
To top it off, I saw a thread on BimmerPost lately about a market research survey from BMW asking F8x customers how would they feel if they were to make the next M3/M4 4 cylinder compromising acceleration for fuel economy. It just seems off-brand.
Bro. BRO. Just no. It’s an M car not a flipping 3 series.
EXACTLY. Messed up on so many levels.
Someone at BMW actually though it’d be a good idea to compromise acceleration for fuel economy on an M CAR!
Honestly, they should have been fired on the spot. No reason someone with a polluted mindset like that belongs at BMW M.
Leave the 4cyl for the cruisers, if you’re getting an AMG or M car, I expect roar, and performance; fuel economy be damned (that’s what the i3 and i8 are for to raise fleet economy eh??).
Im sure whoever suggested is already fired lol
It is going to happen eventually where it is on a hybrid platform. In the not too distant future, everything will be electric due to emissions laws and manufacturers won’t be able to put in huge 6 or 8 cylinder engines. Expect to see performance cars with a small gas engine and a hybrid system, like the Koenigsegg Gemera.
I don’t see a problem with that other than the repair bills out of warranty (which are already absurd for those cars).
Having a tuned up 4 cylinder (which would more than likely be the same one you would fine in a 330i) defeats the purpose of paying the extra cash for the performance car. On the other hand, having extra performance from the 4-cylinder as well as extra electric power would be interesting. I remember another brand that does that on their models, but I forgot the name .
I wouldn’t mind it if they adopted something similar to GMs Voltec system, where the car is electric, and the motor just kicks on to charge the battery once you reach a certain speed.
See the Gemara is different imo, because it still sounds and allegedly drives amazingly. You’re the last person that needs to tell me the future is electric, but for the next few years I’m sure as hell going to enjoy ICE engines.
Didn’t Daimler stop all engine development? I’m not against hybrid power trains, they often make insane cars, take any Le Mans hybrid lmp 1 for example. I’m just curious how this will unfold.
Electric just doesn’t do it for me like traditional engines. Brakes tend to suck bc of that regenerative crap.
You’d think BMW would’ve learned their lesson with the i8.
You can’t get away with all show and no go…you can however get away with all go & no show.
I am going to enjoy my ICE engines too, but hybrids/electric/hydrogen will be be the future. And if BMW drops in a 3 banger hybrid with even half the power of the Gemara (about 1600 HP and 2500 lb/ft) in a M3/M4, I will be happy. But we are probably another 2-3 generations of M cars before that happens. I do hope that BMW comes out soon with a better version of the i8 that will produce crazy numbers and be a true halo car like the R8.
1000% agree, a 4 cyl M3 is vastly different than a high horsepower performance hybrid. It’s like comparing hoovie’s nitro’d Prius to a Polestar.
I would be shocked if the next gen M3/4 came with just a straight turbo 4, but I would not surprised if it came as a 4 cylinder hybrid.
