Well, I barely negotiated on the deal that went through (all I did was asking to round off to save $100ish) but my strategy was just asking for OnePay/Out the door price (I use OnePay when I talk to dealer but I would recommend to confirm with them that it is the same as Out the Door).
I did see that some posters deploy the other strategy of negotiating each important line item (MSRP, MF, etc) but I think it’s easier for me to just provide all rebate applicable and credit score and ask for OnePay and work on 1 number.
Thanks a ton for this post. I was able to get equinox LT AWD for 4863 for 15k miles/yr and 24 months. Opened the gm credit card as well which knocked down the price further to this price.
Most of the courtesy equinox cars have been scooped up but some courtesy blazers are still available and can be had for amazing onepay deals.
What if get original grey Blazer for $3,920 and post it on Swapalease and ask for an extra $1k to be paid to us. It is still be by far lower than anything posted on that site. At the same time I know I will be locked inside my CT which isn’t that big of a market I would think..
And now I have to punder that idea over the weekend. Thoughts?
Does $7500 EV credit applies to courtesy vehicle lease too? Website says if it was used as a courtesy vehicle then it may be qualified. And when I try it on website for lease figures, it isnt available to select and without I am unable to get to the low numbers as you did.
This whole post is one of the most informative and helpful on all of leasehackr. Many many thanks for detailing all of this!! I actually found a couple of blazers with amazing dealer discounts that I want to target, but I want to make sure I have my numbers straight before I go to them - The MSRP is 57k and the advertised dealer price is $42,500 so I feel like I shoudl be in your ballpark of cost or even less (since the 42,847 in your post probably includes the $3500 customer cash already). I don’t qualify for any of the conquest or current lessee discounts, just the $1000 for costco. Looking at your deal, I feel like I should be able to match
BUT, I don’t see the $3k lease cash allowance which makes mine more expensive by a good amount. What is that $3k lease cash from?
The $3,500 customer cash is applicable to cash/finance purchases only - not leases. A lot of dealers will advertise a low price that includes the $3,500 in customer cash, but if you actually go to lease the car they will add the $3,500 back to the selling price.
$3,000 lease cash is coming from the car being a courtesy transportation vehicle aka loaner. Don’t get your hopes up thinking you are going to match any of what was posted above with out having similar or more in incentives. No dealer is discounting these from $57k to $42k without factoring in a bunch of incentives with many of them not being applicable on a lease. Like the post above two that come to mind would be the $3,500 customer cash and $7,500 ev credit. Just combining those two is $11k that does not apply to a lease. The $7,500 is used to increase the residual on a lease.
Precisely this - a $57k MSRP car discounted to $42k is not realistic on a lease deal for one of these. Just signed for a Blazer EV RS yesterday that was discounted from $55k down to $45k pre rebate - but even that discount was not “pure” as they had to tack on a $4k protection package to make the deal work. The protection package ended up being more than the entire one pay for the car.
LOL that’s what I’m trying to figure out - working on getting my contract posted so others can pick it apart. I’ve been trying to decipher it for the past couple hours.
Just got my stuff posted - per Google appearance packages appear to be generally non refundable though. Dreams of a car that cost negative money out the window
That discount includes all rebates (finance, lease, military, student, etc)
The actual discount on one car was 11% pre-rebate and on another 9%
Then it’s a question of rebates.
You need to find a courtesy transportation vehicle (CTV), aka a loaner, as they qualify for $3,000 rebate on 24-month lease ONLY! They are marked like this
Thanks to all for the many replies - I understand that I can’t exactly match those numbers without the relevant rebates, but I may still be missing something so I’d like to get to the bottom of it.
Based on your reply to me, I’ll miss out 1,000 from conquest, $500 from the GM card, and $250 for the costco executive, so I’m expecting that things should start off about $1750 north of where you started, which puts us in the $7000 ballpark, right?
Here’s a non courtesy loaner priced out without that $3k lease cash that’s coming in at about $7000 (27 mo/ 12k - I can’t get it to compute 24 mo):
By comparison, here is a lower cost car that is a courtesy loaner, with the $3k lease cash but it costs more! The big difference seems to be the “total dealer cost”
So is the first dealer basically baking in the “courtesy vehicle” rebate into a very low dealer price? And I guess none of this is reality until I actually contact the dealer, even the same dealer, correct?
Yes, you’d need to contact the dealer to get to the bottom of this. But my guess is that the dealer will say the selling price included the $7500 tax credit and it won’t get applied for lease.
Has anyone tried just going straight to the “start buying process” part of the portal and will the rate i get stay the same if I go through secure checkout?
Also, curious about the $1250 conquest offer — I’ve been told it’s only good on a purchase, not a lease. When I checkmark that incentive and then hover over the asterisk in the breakout of the Incentives section on the right, I do see that it says for purchase only. That’s great if they honored it for you on a lease!
