update 9/14
The sales manager from the second dealership called on Saturday and offered to shave $500. Damn. Now I could not pass that up, thought about it a bit, and took him up on this offer. While doing so I also inquired about GM credit card signup $500 bonues. He said no prob and later on generated a link for me.
So now the whole thing went down another $1k from Friday, down to $3,920. At this point, this was way below my original numbers target even without me doing any work. So, we decided to switch the car from plain grey to another that was red, everything else being the same. But GM charges $450 for this “premium” pain and we decided it was ok to “splurge”. Thus new car will be red and slightly more expensive at $4,300. Essentially $15 a month for not driving grew we’ve had for the last few years.
But if anyone is looking, the grey plain LT AWD can be had for less than $4k apparantly. Before you ask if this is replicable, I don’t know. It’s Sunday and they are closed, so I can’t ask SM about that.

I just want to share an interesting experience of buying a car online, rather than brag about the deal itself.
So, on their sites for each head-brand, Chevy, GMC, Buick, and Cadillac, GM provides the ability not only to find a car but also to structure a good deal.
I was playing around, searching the inventory there rather than on each specific dealership site. I know it’s not perfect for actual availability on the site, but it’s a good starting point to see ALL nationwide inventory.
While searching, I expanded the area to be nationwide, switched to “lease” and sorted from cheapest to most expensive.
It looked something like this.
Then you find the one you are interested in and go to see details about this car which would look like this and click “Edit” on the right side for the lease and play with numbers how you want.
Through a bit of trial an error constructed deals and sent them via that same portal to that specific dealership that listed the car.
This showed a few issues:
- the one dealer from OH showing the lowest price is playing games and refusing to honor the price. I just moved on.
- Another one was when I saw the deal I liked, got the numbers together, and sent them to the dealership. They called me and said it is being delivered as we speak.
So, thus I got the option I’m signing.
This is the screen that was sent to the dealership. At their first attempt, they got close but could not match.
So the site has an option to show all the numbers in the deal
Like below
Next they matched it on their sheet and we shook hands virually. Everything was very smooth without any aggravation on back and forth about the price. Barely spoke to any salesperson and got this just about a week ago.
Hope this helps those who are searching for a deal.
