Buying a new Tundra

Hi all!

Looking to buy a new Tundra Platinum here in Texas and getting initial quotes from dealers at “3k-5k over MSRP” due to the shortage and Toyota’s allocation crapola.

Paying MSRP itself seems vomit-worthy, but tolerable given the shortage… paying more than MSRP, I don’t think I can get myself to do that.

Am I out of luck on this or are the dealers fairly easily pushed back to MSRP?

@Jrouleau426 is your man for sure msrp

@Ryan_S might and his dealer is in tx

We have two Toyota TX dealers on here…have you scanned the marketplace section and reached out to either @Ryan_S or @derekoh1991?

I can’t do platinums at msrp either. I have an occasional one pop up but not often.

2500 over is best I can do. Things are just selling way to fast to people walking in paying 8-10k over. Crazy.

For my LH people I am not charging over MSRP, but I do have dealer addons: window tint, scratch shield and a catalytic steel cover (this is an absolute must in my opinion). Wait time on a Platinum 4x2 is about 2-4 weeks and a 4x4 is around 6-8 weeks. If you’re looking for the Hybrid model then I can’t help you with that. No info on the release dates yet and I am juggling so many deposits right now I wouldn’t want to add another one to the list on a car that’s not out yet and will probably be on a 5 month+ wait when it does launch.

Thank you all for the responses. I am looking for a hybrid… unfortunately, it seems.

I dream of a day when the car buying experience doesn’t make me want to stab a fork into my eyes

Anyone taking deposits on hybrids right now is doing so blindly. I would wait for them to actually start hitting lots to see where they price and if the price difference is worth that over a non-hybrid.

Our first hybrid pro in lunar has a $15k over msrp deposit and that’s from a long time customer. They will be pricing higher then that most likely for people without relationships.

The lower trims shouldn’t be too much over msrp, just depends on demand and inventory.
