Hi, I was trying to help someone from VA purchase an elantra and a MD dealer seemed to to offer the bigger discount of MSRP. They got back with the attached pricing and I was wondering if they’re double charging the destination fee? And are dealer installed options also a common fee?
MD dealers love to do this crap. The “discount” includes the destination charge that they’re then putting back on.
Yea. So they asked about those fees and got back the following. Would the best option be to try and negotiate a bigger discount in this case?
Is that window sticker for the actual car or one with missing accessories.
It’s possible what they’ve done here is add a bunch of undisclosed add ons and called that the “msrp” with the destination removed and gone from there.
The effect is the same in that their “discount” isn’t what it appears to be.
Sure looks to me like they’re full of it. I’d tell them to pound sand and move on. Their math clearly shows it being double counted.
They also mention wheel locks as a dealer installed accessory they’re charging you even though they’re on the window sticker here.
Yep totally agree. Msrp includes destination. They can go pound sand. Also tell them to take a nice Sharpie and go right on through those dealer installed options. Then you can maybe start to talk a good deal.
They’ve already demonstrated they can’t even be honest with their numbers. Trying for a good deal is a waste of time.
