Buy hacker? Leasehacker for buying?

I get the site is called lease hacker, but any thoughts as to adding a section for buying? I will probably continue to lease cars for myself, but for my wife we tend to buy (new or light CPO) because we keep the car a while, she doesn’t care, and kids destroy it. I leased an f-type thanks to this site and like it so much I may just buy one next time to hang on to long term. It would be awesome to have an equivalent site to this for buying cars. If you know of one, please let me know. However, I see no reason we can’t one stop shop this. Just a thought. Curious what others think.

Excellent idea (really good)

I’m always happy to help with all things GM. Leasing or buying. I’ve actaully sold a few vehicles to LH customer already and i’d welcome a new section for buying. Here is what one of my customers had to say.

@Babo
Talked to Phil, he gave me some really good insights on purchasing a 2017 Volt and got me a killer
price on one of the cars in his inventory, 2017 Volt LT in Heather Gray Metallic w/ Comfort Package + leather
seats. Amazing guy who actually knows his cars - didn’t try to upsell me on anything, just explained what was
available. Went in around 8:30pm, walked out the door around 11pm with my Volt! Would highly recommend for
anyone who’s planning to lease or buy a car near the Bay Area. Thanks man :slight_smile:

Buying is easier than leasing as you don’t care about RV or MF. Just negotiate the same way: get the best sales price before incentives, then add in all the incentives and you’re done.

Sure, buying is easier. But deal spotting isn’t always. How many fewer people would be driving an ftype if not for this forum. Sure there are other places you could go, but it might be helpful to have a tool here to share good deals (nationwide) or local on particular vehicles.

The idea of Leasehacking is achieving prices for a lease on a vehicle that are dramatically below what you would pay to buy (or to lease at advertised rates).

Even if you get the same deal terms (same discounts, same incentives, etc) you won’t ever achieve anywhere near the same kinds of deals if you’re buying. The key to leases having the potential to be so amazing is that you get the full benefit of dealer discounts, incentives, and Government rebates, but only pay the remaining amount in excess of the residual.

I think the site should continue to focus on leases - when people are interested in a vehicle that just doesn’t lease well (cough cough Golf R), the community won’t hesitate to recommend that. It doesn’t require a separate section though - you can always post in “Ask the Hackrs” or “Share Deals/Tips” for a purchase question. My $.02. Cheers.

You can ask the admin @michael to maybe create a section called Purchasing or something. Maybe it will get some action or not, you never know.

I agree with @jables04 that the point of the forum is to hack leases. The rebates are different and you basically pay the selling price – not as much fun :slight_smile:

I get the forum is called lease hacker. Just thought it might be helpful to have a place where people could post good deals for purchase. Some of us both lease and purchase. If there is no interest, so be it.

I think that’s a great idea. I think everyone realizes this but the majority of people hate the leasing/buying process cause most feel the dealer is screwing them. We were originally going to buy an inferior truck for my brother in law but found this site and now we are getting a Tacoma. I’m a big fan of this site and will definitely tell friends.
