Forgive me if this has been asked before. I did some searching but didn’t see anything that answered my question directly.
I’m in the midwest. In the marketplace, I see a lot of broker listings for brokers that have partnerships with dealers in various regions (NE, NorCal, SoCal, South, etc.). I’m happy to get my new car from anywhere in the country, assuming the nationwide deal + shipping beats anything I can get locally. (This is not hard; my local dealers don’t generally even get close.)
So my question: do (any? all?) brokers who work those other regions provide their services to people like me who want to get a deal from somewhere else and have it shipped?
Up until now, I’ve done all the hunting, emailing, and negotiating myself, but I’m considering using a broker for the next one. I also have some friends who are beginning their search and aren’t as interested in doing the research on their own and “playing the game” as I am.
It depends on the broker and the dealership. But some of us also have midwest relationships (I have a BMW dealership in Illinois, for instance).
What are you looking for?
Nothing for myself at the moment. Next spring (March-ish) I’ll be looking to find a cheap EV lease.
Before that, though, I have several friends who are hoping to replace their ICE cars with an EV lease before the credit sunsets at the end of September. I want to offer them good advice, potentially that they should reach out to brokers here for an easy solution without the need for dealer negotiation.
That makes sense. So is it safe to assume that most brokers probably could help, as long as they know dealers who would be willing to do the deal remotely and allow the car to be picked up by auto transport?
Yes, it just depends on the dealership. Some only do regional deals or local. But we post where the car is available and if they’ll do out-of-area deals, generally.
