I’m looking into leasing an X5, still unsure if new or loaner/demo.
I was wondering what options for you are a “must have”.
I know it is all subjective, but between all the options I am not sure which ones are really useful and which ones are a gimmicK (such gesture control, IMHO).
For example, the Park Assistant Pro package is something I can live without. Instead, is Driving Assistant Professional really useful on an everyday basis? Or the standard is enough?
To me, the harman kardon audio is something my X5 has to have.
I am trying to find the right balance between look (M Sport package, M caliper etc) and useful things.
It’s funny, before getting a new X5 I thought gesture control was a complete gimmick and totally useless, something I would never use. But now that I have it I use it every day. Weird how the mind works.
I would say the HUD is a must have, the acoustic glass is a relatively inexpensive option to make the cabin that much quieter. The merino leather is incredibly soft and comfortable (and looks incredible too). The 360 camera is great. I also use the backup assistant on a daily basis to get out of the garage without fear of destroying a side mirror. I wasn’t a fan of the standard shifter so the glass controls give the cabin a bit more “rolls royce” look.
Though my opinion is admittedly childish, I’d shoot for the largest engine in your budget, and the stereo upgrade…(and if you live someplace cold like me, heated everything).
I love the HUD and 360 camera, but can live without them - and though by no means a must-have, the soft close doors do bring a smile to my face every time.
Nice to have: Premium Package, M Sport w/ M Sport Brakes and Extended Shadowline, Driver Assist Pro (only if you do a lot of highway driving), Luxury Seating.
Not needed but adds to the experience: Merino Leather, Executive Package, Air Suspension, Integral Steering, Acoustic Glass, Glass Controls, 21/22" Wheels (summer tires, so you need a set of winters for cold climates).
Waste of Money: Offroad Package, Night Vision, 3rd Row, Rear Seat Entertainment
I am wondering which one between Drive assistant pro and parking assistant pro is more usefull.
And I mean if those are functions that someone would really use in daily life. For example, I have seen the video on youtube of “change lane assistant” where the car steer by itself. This is useless to me to do all of this just to change lane.
Is driver assist pro not useful for stop and go traffic as well? I’m more than certain I want this package on my next deal partly because I sit in traffic a lot and hate jumping between gas and brake.
It has traffic jam assist for limited access roads (highways/expressways) when you are driving below 40mph. So it will work in stop and go on the expressway but not on city streets. But it is pretty cool and useful. I had to deliver an X5 to a client’s house during rush hour and drove there hands free on the highway.
Everyone is going to want to have different things man.
For me, I can’t live without the driving assistance plus, I drive mostly on highways and it really takes a load off me.
Nice to have would be HUD and better sound. Not sure about Birdseye parking camera, I feel like its something desired by lesser skilled drivers. I’ve been driving 20+ years without any parking assist, even a rear camera is great but my life wouldn’t change without it.
Anything cosmetic is a waste of money for me. Esp larger rims which just make the ride harsher.
Exactly. When I picked my car up, got stuck in traffic 2 hours on the way home, and it worked tremendously. Its not perfect, but I guess it works great 75% of the time.
It works in traffic jams. i’ve used it. I’ll occasionally use it on state highways too. @gcz Not sure in what conditions you were driving, but mine is almost always centered. It took me a few days to understand its limitations but apart from that, its solid.
