BMW X3 Tire Life

,

Hi all, newbie here and was hoping for some help from the forum. I am currently leasing a BMW 330i and was surprised to find that mid lease I was lucky enough to have to purchase a new set of tires. After doing some research I learned that the run flats on the 330i typically only last 12 -15k miles. My lease is due in Sept and I am really interested in leasing an X3 next, but am not so happy with the idea of sinking money in to a new set of tires for this lease as well. All of these external purchases add to the TCO and I’m wanting to know what others experiences have been with an X3/4/or 5. Have you had to replace tires midway through your lease. Thanks in advance for the input.

My wife had '16 X3. We replaced tires with exact oem replacements from local used tire dealer. This was done at around 30K miles. My wife is not easy on tires/brakes. Cost us $400.

The run flats on my 330i were $1500+ for the full set. Did you mean yours were $400 each?

Runflats are notorious for wearing out early. You can expect similar wear on the x3 as you saw on your 3 series.

This is very similar to many posts on the subject. Look at used RFTs on bestusedtires.com, craigslist, eBay, etc…

Another option is to buy non RFTs, swap them out, and then put the RFTs back on when you return the car at lease end.

Search for RFTs in the search bar. Plenty of info on them on the forum. x3 will be no different.
