What should I aim to bargain down the wheel and tire package too on my new bmw?
Is it something you need to have or just something they are offering to boost their bottom line on the deal? In my opinion, the expense is usually not worth it unless you are really hard on tires and wheels. Yes, you may hit the occasional pothole, but unless you are replacing wheels and tires often due to damage, I don’t like these plans.
i second this opinion.
If your previous car has a bunch of curb rash and you go through tires a lot, then it might be beneficial. For most people, the best course of action is to decline the coverage. If you dislike the ride quality / noise from the run-flats, take off the OEM tires for the tires of your choice and keep them until the lease is up. Then slap the OEM tires back on so you don’t get dinged for tread.
All after sales products are subjective depending on what car you are getting, what size the wheels and tires are, and how you drive. If you except to replace a full set it is typically worth it on most BMW’s, but if you are chucking it up to chance it may not be the best choice. Also check with you insurance company, I’ve heard some companies have programs it will either be a no brainier at that point or something to negotiate against.
I currently have an i3, and popped 4 tires on socal potholes throughout my 24 month lease. these tires are thin and easily blow out so that is why im looking into the wheel and tire package
I got mine on my Giulia for 350 for 2 years. I got the 19" wheels with 40 series tires so it’s some peace of mind. Runflats suck, whoever invented them should be pushed off a cliff
I think this kind of package covers damage, not normal wear and tear. So you will still pay for a new set of tires when they wear out. If you hit a pothole and damage a tire or a wheel, they will replace it.
