From some previous posts it seems that current BMW leasees who are currently leasing a BMW are eligible to “transfer” the MSDs to a new BMW lease.
I’m trying to get clarification but it’s hard to come by what “transfer” means. Is it a literal transfer at the end of the lease you can take out another lease and use the old MSDs or does it mean you “qualify” for taking out another BMW using MSDs. In other words, I want to lease-transfer out of my car and get into a diff BMW but still want to do MSDs and i’m not sure if i can.
Supposedly the ability to still use MSDs has regional restrictions. So far it looks like CA allows it but given that i’m not getting much info locally, i’m wondering if FL allows it. Does anybody have a list of which regions allow it?
It’s not a direct transfer. Better way of wording it: If you currently have a BMW with MSD you may terminate your current MSD (Receive the total amount back) and make a NEW deposit on a new car. Key thing is you can not transfer the actual money from the current car, you need to put new money in. If you are doing a lease transfer you need to get/ask for the MSD upfront from the new guy. BMW hold’s MSD’s until lease maturity for multiple reasons.
so “transfer” really means “eligible” as long as you terminate the original lease?
I’m aware that in the event of a lease transfer, the MSDs would transfer to the new assuming party in which case i would lose the ability to use MSDs?
So if i understand you correctly, I would have to take out a new lease while still having my car with MSDs, use new money for the MSDs on the new lease since i’m “eligible” and then lease transfer out of it after getting into the new car?
Let’s say my current BMW lease (with MSD) will end in 5 months. Can I lease another BMW now and put new deposit MSDs while keeping my current BMW for the following 5 month till lease end (and get my old MSDs back until then)? Thanks!
If your current lease gets closed out then you should be able to get your MSD’s back once everything is taken car of your should have to wait for 5 months. Only different in the OP’s case because it is not being terminated it’s being transferred.
I have a BMW with $4900 of MSD right now and new BMW on order (which I am going to do MSDs with again, also $4900). I most likely will need to get an extension for about a month until it gets here.
Can I just turn in my vehicle and have the current MSDs applied to my new lease when I pick up the new car?
The dealer when I placed the order said YES, but I when called BMW Financial (to extend my lease), they said NO to the MSD transfer. They said I would get a check from BMWFS 2 to 3 weeks after I turn in my present car for my current MSDs. I would need to put another $4900 out of pocket at the start of the new lease for MSDs.
Who is correct? Seems crazy that they wouldn’t let you roll over the deposits.
i would tell the dealer to handle it. If they wanna sell you a lease, let them do the work and figure out how to transfer the MSDs especially since they told you YES.
