I’m curious how PCD delivery works for MA buyers, since MA doesn’t have temporary plates.
Doea anyone have experience with the process?

I just did this with my new E Tron. The dealer in Ohio put temporary Ohio tags on it so that when it arrived to me in MA I could drive it. They’re using a title company to register the car and get me MA tags, which could take a month or so. My insurance company was fine with it, as was EZ Pass. The only thing that makes me nervous is that I can’t get a MA inspection sticker until I have MA plates, so I’m driving on an uninspected car.
Ah, this is an Audi from out of state dealer right?
In PCD i was referring to BMW being delivered to me in South Carolina performance center, where i would drive it home myself.
That’s normal and in every state . Can’t get your state inspection until you get your reg/tags.
You have your temp tags so you’re not in violation.
Yes, an Audi bought from a dealer in Ohio and shipped to MA.
Pretty sure that’s illegal in MA since MA doesn’t recognize anyone else’s temp tags. Your car could be impounded if you were pulled over AFAIK.
That’s not true. You buy the car out of state with temp tags and await your MA tags.
If they don’t recognize out of state temp tags, then they must not recognize any out of state tags.
What’s the current state of getting a tag on a new car in Massachusetts…i.e., if I walk in off the street today and lease a new BMW off the lot is a new tag issued right then and there?
Or do you get some “Tag Applied For” sticker or tag, etc. since there are no temp tags?
I would think the same would apply for a PCD delivery.
