BMW Packages offered by the FI Manager and money saving tips

I’ve had more than my fair share of BMWs over the years. If you try to cut corners, the rotors end up getting warped.

Again, this is my personal experience. YMMV

Obviously… most people including dealers take the path of least resistance. It was just easier for them to charge it to UC+ than make the warranty claim, which might have taken longer and may have even required waiting for a regional rep to come out.

It’s not even BMWs anymore. Most of the Audi/Mercedes/Volvo crossovers are also notorious for chewing through tires/pads/rotors quickly.

There are guys on the Volvo forums going through XC90 pads/rotors every 20k miles

Yes, but I would really rather not have my more senior aged parents having to do battle with these dealership folks…It was honestly bad enough with the car being at the dealership for about six weeks when they could not figure out the problem with the charging rectifier🤪

That’s what happened for the rectifier claim…

I’m not faulting your parents… just reminding anyone following this thread that they don’t need UC+ if they encounter manufacturing defects on a wearable item.

Shudders at 5k don’t mean the customer wore them down and is on the hook for replacing them. The OEM is on the hook for a defective part.

Volvo has replaced defective rotors under warranty too.

With Volvo that’s been expressed here too. It’s stupid and shouldn’t happen, and many members report getting it fixed under warranty.

Yeah, the brakes on the XC90 are definitely undersized for size of the SUV. They don’t really inspire a lot of confidence.

Lol someone is salty. 90% of lease returns are demolished (and disgusting). And about 60% of the cars I sell have low profile tires. Wheel protection is a big seller here due to the amount of parallel parking in beach areas. Every lease return has curbed wheels and a very solid amount of door-dings / scratches, that’s normal and it gets much worse. Maybe I’ll start a thread for the worst lease returns.

Bullshit… JFC people will say anything just to win an internet debate.

Wanna bet? Give me 2 mins and I’ll drive to my satellite lot where we keep our lease returns. One is literally missing a part of the bumper.

Here’s a car I grounded 5 minutes ago. Curved every wheel, door dings from opening it into a wall, and missing a part of the bumper. That’s normal.

And these folks typically don’t care about the end-of-lease bill they get slapped with?

They do. They usually ask me what the bill will be and I respond with “I don’t know, you’re at the mercy of the bank”

So how did that negate what @CapsCup2018 said? People who can’t take care of their stuff and/or won’t teach their kids to take care of their stuff shouldn’t be leasing.

All your photos do is prove a total lack of personal responsibility on behalf of the lessee. Combined with the moral hazard generated from knowing a damage waiver has been prepaid for, therefore there’s no marginal cost to doing the damage.

So you’re telling me this person wouldn’t benefit from dynamic wheel or excess wear?

Healthy amount of dog hair and dye transfer on that one too.

All this person needs is to have mommy or daddy’s checkbook taken away.

Well don’t say I’m full of shit when I say 90% come back destroyed. Cars like that are perfectly normal.

Not disagreeing with the fact that people like that shouldn’t be leasing but they do. F&I products can be useful for some. I don’t buy anything in F&I because I take care of my car.

I too live in god forsaken nyc metropolitan area, where potholes have been known to swallow cars whole, one winter i bubbled/ blew out 7 tires, most on the belt parkway. I never wanted to go through another winter like that, did some research, and have now always gone with Tire Rack for replacement tires. Very competitive pricing, AND 2 YEAR, tire road hazard insurance,no deductible, you do pay for balancing and installation. Tire rack is the pros pro, when you go to a dealer for tire questions, and they end up calling “The Rack” for answers, you know you are dealing with professionals, so at most you would be on hook for 4 tires/ lease, much lower cost than the 1600$ plus tire packages Most dealers are offering, now if you butcher the rims as well…

who are you to say if it’s bullshit or not?

do you work in the dealership business?

how many leases returns have you taken back and inspected in your lifetime?

Most people who are actually in the car business know that many lease returns get brought back looking trashed because peoples subconsciously think that because the car is a lease they don’t have to take care of the car.

Especially if the customer lives in very urban area with a lot of traffic and minimal parking. For example, in my personal experience, cars that come back from manhattan, queens, bronx are typically always in worse condition then taking a car back from someone that lives in the Suburbs that may have a 2-3 car driveway and street parking isn’t as congested.
