BMW M's Market DP collection

, ,

Looking into a M car, and still choosing between M3,M4,M5. Curious about the current market, before choosing one. Would love to get any DP or insights.

These are my research, curious about allocations and in stocks. Living in WA, but deals in CA are usually better.

  1. M3 - Basically MSRP, lucky if you can get $1K off. Same for allocation and in stock.
  2. M4 - 9% off allocation. 10% off for in stock
  3. M5 - no idea

1’s realistic, you might even be able to get complimentary home delivery which to PNW is worth 1-2% easy.

2, Corner case with a desperate seller or a very overloaded build (usually carbon adds).
Invoice is more realistic for M4 allocations as they’re 100% no longer built in numbers like the Fxx were.

3, M5 really depends how badly the dealer is getting pounded on floorplan when it sits. Allocation probably the same case as M3.

How about a M5 Touring? :winking_face_with_tongue::grin:

Thanks for the info!

Based on this, the best shot would be a M4 or M5 that sits.

The invoice for M4 X Comp is about $5K less than MSRP which is about 5-6%

For M5, any idea what % we can target?

On sitting M4 I’d start off at 10 and settle at 8ish. If not just wait end of year to see what happens…M3s may loosen up by then.

There are some segments where they’re mostly fungible and you just choose the cheapest one.

OTOH there are some segments where you choose the most fun car to drive, despite the price delta.

I been looking at the M3s as well, definitely overpriced with 1-2 old year units with 10-30k miles listed for at or slightly below MSRP. Curious to see what year end brings, if any change at all. Personally have a preference for the m3

There have been pretty decent price increases so just as with 911, the cars msrp at time of sale isn’t that important given a new comparable one is much more

Im just shocked at them holding their value as they have been. Covid and post market , as we all know, is bonkers, but was hoping these wouldn’t hold value as well as they have , sorry for those that have it

That’s what makes me think M4 under the current market

What makes the M3 drop year end?

That’s what makes it worth getting right?

Honestly any prediction is crap, we all know rhat. Im not in a rush, but values can also reset and can start dropping next month. Again, who knows right?

I was just saying year end from a personal perspective, no real data

I got a ‘25 M4 last October for 12% off before shit got really bonkers, I sold it a few months ago and it’s been my biggest regret. I’ve been looking into an M2 but that market has also gone crazy

Was it a convertible? That’s not out of pocket for a high spec convertible in most markets outside CA/FL past September generally.

I have quite a few and can discount one.

Nope, low spec M4 comp in SoCal. MSRP was 87.5 from what I remember?

Cool. Definitely an outlier and not the norm though.

Have you driven any of the M cars? If so, which one did you enjoy driving the most? Or like the style of?

I’ve seen discounts on all but the M3. Some versions of the M4 and the M2 take a little more digging for the deals. M5 are readily available with a discount.

What I don’t get is why you would specifically buy an M car, but not really care which one except that it’s the best “investment “.
