BMW m340i xdrive vs Stinger GTS AWD

, ,

I’ve read a few threads about Kia dealers. Seems most treat their cars as almost non-negotiable and are reluctant to offer discounts/better MF. My experience this time kinda proved that… Also good luck with your hunt. Hope you get a stellar deal!

Ahhh man…if only Pennsylvania was next to ny or nj then you could drive for a good deal. And enjoy the the ride back. But since Pennsylvania is in what, Canada? Guess your stuck w your crappy deal :wink::wink:

Why are you so hung up on the brand? Evaluate the car on its merits, not its badge.

Does make a difference with dealer/servicing/loaners etc. So not completely irrelevant.

Most likely will need 2-3 oil changes while you wait (for either car), so the service/loaner factor is quite close to being irrelevant.

Cool story

BMW or Kia? I couldn’t evaluate this deal objectively. Just my opinion. Best of luck.

Interestingly I am also cross shopping across M340i xdrive and Stinger GT2 AWD. All the dealers for both Kia and BMW are no where near the quotes I see in this and the other forums. I already realized by reading other threads that seattle area dealers are notorious for not budging on discounts. Currently I believe I also need to cast a wider net but most SoCal dealers seems to have no xDrive vehicles in inventory. I would love to custom order one if I can still get a 10% off MSRP but based on reading forums it looks like my odds are better off negotiating for a car on the lot.

nah. Just try to spread laughs and joy w my post. If you know where the deals are, and you are in a relative close distance, why would one not seek such deals. Instead come on the site, state how such deals suck and ask what to do.

Why not use a broker on here for the m340i? They will get you an awesome deal without all the haggling.

I currently lease a Kia Cadenza. They treat their “Higher end” vehicles a bit different when it comes to servicing. Cadenza, Stinger, K900 and Telluride owner’s get a VIP card when they first get the vehicle. Includes complimentary roadside assistance and service loaners for any warranty work or service that takes longer than like 2 hours.

And no you do not get a Kia forte loaner. I’ve taken my Cadenza in twice so far for extended work (1 set of recalls and 1 check engine light). I got a 2.0L Stinger the first time and a Ford Expedition Platinum the second time (the dealership sells Ford’s and Kia’s, so I had my choice).

It’s funny bmw owners talk about the service experience like it’s a positive. How much time should a brand new car with less than 30k miles spend in service? I either change my oil myself or use a local coupon for $20 while I wait in the lobby for 15 minutes. The last time I needed a service loaner was the last time I owned a bmw and there was definitely nothing “special” about that service experience

Surprised they would offer a VIP card…

I have owned neither BMW or Kia in the past. Some boast Kia’s service and warranty program. But do German cars tend to have tiny mechanical programs more frequently? I have a few friends who drive MB/BMW/Audi. They go to dealer for service/maintenance much more often…

Much different for Land Rover owners.

We become best friends with our service advisors. I think we exchange holiday cards.

I’m not in a hurry for a second car, so I’d rather not work my a** off to find a stellar deal, then ask a friend to come with me, drive 6 hours to get the car, then 6 hours back. Also rule 52: don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Well it was actually more than that. 2020 models are around the corner so I’d like to wait a bit longer. Also imho m340xi indeed has better engine and interior although being 10k more expensive. But man that Stinger GTS just looks so cool…

Glad that I’m not the only one choosing between the two! Came to think about it, people probably don’t get 10%-12% off MSRP most of the time (survivorship bias).

So basically you still get to sit at a dealership for two hours, twice? One time for them to diagnose the issue, second to repair it?

I’ve been dealing with Kias for too long. I crave for some BMW pampering. :grinning:
