BMW Lease Transfer with MSDS?

Thinking about putting my new i7 up for lease transfer and was wondering if MSDs significantly lower the transfer pool? What has been other peoples experience?

How much? If its more than a few grand, I would say that definitely limits potential buyers. Even at a few grand some people are going to squirm.

7k. That’s a pretty big chunk.

Yeah, not a great start IMO unless the payment and DAS (ask) are quite low. It doesn’t mean that its impossible to transfer though.

Payment is like 650 plus tax. Great deal but I would be asking for DAS as well

You just went from 100% to like 10%. Not everyone going to shell out $10K for it. Most please, including myself, rather have a higher payment then having MSDs stuck for 3 years

You mean MSDs in general or for lease transfers? 7k in MSDs saves me 3500 over life if lease. Where else are you getting that return? Never understood why people don’t put Max MSDs.

If I plan on keeping the car full term, yes its good. Doing transfers suck with MSDs. You will need to appeal to the $250K+ earners with no debt

How much DAS?

I was thinking 3k

Because the majority of people in the US don’t have even an extra thousand laying around…as sad as that seems!

I believe it, but they should’ve be assuming 700/mo or higher leases.

The vast majority of people are horrible with money and live paycheck to paycheck with very little net worth outside of home equity because they spend it all on which they really can’t afford.

Totally makes sense if the likelihood of seeing the lease all the way to the end is high.

But if you’re a serial lessee, those MSD’s are not easy to deal with. Not impossible, just not easy. And you’ll always have those lowballers that hit you with zero DAS/zero MSDs. Aggravating :joy:

I get it now. I guess if you’re constantly moving from lease to lease it can become a headache.

Maybe I’ll list it and see what happens

Makes it pretty painful. I had $7k of MSDs too on an iX and ended up accepting $2500 DAS that’s how bad I wanted to get out of it lol.

Bc most people are either living pay check to pay check (even some high earners) or illiquid.

Oh man. I got an IX last year after lemoning my Rivian. I was pretty regretful. The ride quality on that thing without air suspension is pretty awful. Thankfully my wife loved it so I gave it to her and got the Taycan, which has since been totaled. How they can make these cars without air suspension standard is beyond me.

That was the biggest miss I noticed with my iX as well. That and my car missing DAPP. Absolutely would never do another iX without those two options.
