BMW Lease return: matching hood numbers and BMW logo on windshield required?

Hello, new to this forum. Great that everyone jumps in to help others!
Caught a road hazard and poked hole through windshield and headlamp. Replacing hood and windshield at collision shop. Hood is aftermarket and I am not sure if windshield will be Original OEM with BMW logo on it as Allstate had relationship with Safelight and they will replace. Anyone know if they check numbers matching on hood and if they look for the BMW logo on the windshield?

Many thanks!

I am pretty sure that the insurance paperwork must be filed with them…

Relatively certain that BMW requires OEM parts, but I could be wrong. Check to see what your lease contract says or call your CA

I doubt anyone will check numbers but I never return a BMW.

i highly doubt that they’ll look at the windshield that closely to see if numbers match.

OK this sounds like a conversation to have with your insurance company. Why are they giving you aftermarket hoods and windshields?

This here! You can demand they put OEM BMW parts on your car. Don’t allow for substitute, and cheaper to them, aftermarket.

I had a windshield replaced by Safelight via my insurance and they ordered the part from an Audi dealer. Are you just assuming it will be after market because the work isn’t being done by a BMW dealer?

Interestingly my windshield is being replaced by Safelite next week. I quick called BMWFS and asked if it needed to be oem, It does not. It does have to support the same features, ie Rain Sensing.

I had the same issue with my Mazda lease. They work through Chase Financial services and the replacement windshield has to have the same features (ie rain sensing, acoustic lamination) but doesn’t have to be OEM. My insurance provides OEM parts for the first 1 year of ownership but then generic afterwards, but you can always pay out of pocket for the difference, which for me would have been about $125 extra for OEM.

BMW doesn’t require OEM

Funny to be talking about features on a Windshield …

yeah… i remember having a chipped windshield during inspection and BMW quoted $600 something for the repair. Replaced it for $80 outside and turned it back in.

If you have a HUD, make sure they use the correct windshield that supports it. I got a small rock chip that Safelite repaired per BMW’s recommendation but I was told if the entire thing needed to be replaced it would cost over $2000.

Thanks all! Quick responses….
Update: I just heard back from BMW and then received this document. Pretty direct on what they check and do not accept. Unbelievable, i called the collision and they told me they had already received “used hoods” from a source and had to reject due to some damage. I pushed them to source new BMW parts and get approval from insurance co and they were successful. I pay alot for premiums so want insurer to step up when I file claim. I may keep the car at end lease next year but if I buy it I do not want used parts. I am including selected language and link for other BMW drivers with same question. Granted we may interpret the language subjectively but remember they control the inspection and therefore our $$ liability.
Thanks again all!

why would you be buying a car that is going to be worth a lot less than what you’re going to pay for it ? With an accident on record that car is going to be worth so much less, you’ll be shocked to find out

What’s your insurance company?
Demand for OEM parts.

Is the insurance premium going to go up with OEM?

Geico?
Throwing darts but I hated them mostly for this reason.

I have Geico they are pretty good when it comes to covering for damages from my experience with them.
